DENVER, January 16, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Josiah Oakes Hatch III has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Mr. Hatch is a retired attorney who has continued to teach at the University of Denver since 2000. Beginning his academic career as an adjunct professor of securities regulation at the Sturm College of Law, he subsequently became an adjunct professor of global economic affairs at the Josef Korbel School of International Studies on campus in 2011. As an expert in his field, he teaches several graduate courses in international business and economics, including Global Value Chains, MNCs and Sustainable Investment, International Business Transactions, and Political Risk Analysis. During his tenure, Mr. Hatch was also an adjunct professor in the Daniels College of Business in the business ethics and legal studies department, teaching International Business Law. Moreover, he has become recognized as a vice chairman emeritus and former acting degree director for the department of global economic affairs.
Mr. Hatch spent nearly 30 years in the field as an attorney, beginning as a special counsel for Gibson, Dunn and Crutcher LLP from 1985 to 1997. He was also a partner at Freeborn and Peters LLP, Greenberg Traurig LLP, and Ducker, Montgomery, Lewis and Bress PC between 1998 and 2012. Additionally, Mr. Hatch garnered success as the owner of Josiah Hatch LLC from 2012 to 2023, where he focused his practice on international law, international political economy, corporate and commercial law, and litigation.
Throughout his career, Mr. Hatch served on several committees, including as the vice chair of the executive committee of the Social Science Foundation Board at the Josef Korbel School of International Studies and as a visiting committee member of the classics department alumni council at Princeton University. Furthermore, Mr. Hatch has contributed several articles in various law journals.
Aside from his contributions to law and higher education, Mr. Hatch has maintained an ongoing interest in literary criticism, has written numerous essays, and has experimented with poetry. He also recently published his first book, "A Journey to St. Thomas," via Fulcrum Publishing. Moreover, Mr. Hatch has been actively engaged in arts and entertainment. He has written several musical compositions, including two full-length musicals for which he wrote the book, the lyrics, and the music, which were later performed in Denver. Mr. Hatch has also become experienced in voiceovers and has been credited for participating in a one-person show, "Santa Claus Was My Father," for several years. He continues to direct local choral programs occasionally and is a member of several civic organizations, including The Cactus Club and the Denver Literary Club.
Mr. Hatch received a Bachelor of Arts in classical and ancient studies with a minor in music, summa cum laude, from Princeton University in 1972, a Master of Arts in Oxon English language from the University of Oxford in 1974 as a Marshall Scholar, and a Doctor of Jurisprudence in international law and legal studies from Georgetown University Law Center in 1985. He has been admitted to practice by the Colorado Bar Association, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit, the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, and the U.S. Court of International Trade.
Mr. Hatch remains active as a professional member of the Colorado State Bar and an associate member of the D.C. and Virginia State Bar. He is also a member of the Fair Tax Foundation, an international research think tank based in Washington, D.C., and the Fair Tax Education Fund.
In light of his academic success, Mr. Hatch was honored to receive the coveted Ruth Murray Underhill Teaching Award from the University of Denver. He was also recognized for his legal work, with inclusion in Best Lawyers in America, Best Lawyers in Colorado, and Lawyers of Distinction, and as an AV-Rated Attorney by Martindale-Hubbell.
