NEWPORT NEWS, VA, January 16, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Edward Moore with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Edward Moore celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Backed by years of professional management experience, Mr. Moore excels as the office manager and director of human resources for Beth W. Moore, CPA, his wife's CPA firm and the largest female-owned firm in Virginia. In addition to working alongside his wife, he serves on the Speaker's Bureau at the Mariner's Museum in Newport News, Virginia. Due to his considerable historical knowledge, Mr. Moore conducts history lectures for the military and other organizations and groups.
Before joining his wife's practice, Mr. Moore gained valuable expertise in journalism as the assistant sports editor for the Daily Press, columnist for the New York Daily News, executive sports editor for the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer, and sports columnist for the Pensacola Journal. During the early stages of his career, he also worked for the Huntsville Times, Auburn Plainsman, and U.S. Census Bureau. Likewise, he has lent his expertise as a historian and journalist to the U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army, Virginia Military Institute, Hampton University, the Virginia War Memorial, Auburn University, National Geographic, and the Jacques Cousteau Society, to name a few. Over the years, Mr. Moore also worked freelance for United Press International, wrote for various magazines, and taught American history to high school students for Summit Christian Academy and Calvary Classical School.
An expert in his field, Mr. Moore earned a Bachelor of Arts in journalism from Auburn University in 1982. Subsequently, he completed a military strategy and policy certificate at Old Dominion University and a teaching certificate in English from Virginia Wesleyan University. Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, he aligns himself with the Associated Press Sports Editors, the Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, and Alabama Sports Writers Associations, the Society of Human Resources Management, and the Society of American Baseball Research. In conjunction with his work, Mr. Moore has contributed to his community as the vice president of legislative affairs for the Langley Civic Leaders Association.
Mr. Moore has won over 90 journalism awards throughout his career and was included in the Top Five Sports Columnists in the United States by the Associated Press Sports Editors. Additionally, he was named Best Sports Columnist in Georgia on several occasions. Though hard work and dedication have brought him far in his career, he credits his success to his mother, who was an educator, many teachers who encouraged him to become a professional writer, his educational foundation, and his mentor, Jack Simms, a sports editor for the Associated Press. He also notes that he would not be where he is today without his wife's support. Looking ahead, Mr. Moore intends to continue presenting at The Mariners' Museum and writing his book about Civil War propaganda.
