Her role involved similar responsibilities, focusing on financial controls and solutions that ensured the company's financial operations ran smoothly and efficiently. In addition, she established operational excellence practices and led cross cultural initiatives, including being the author of policies detailing "Best in Class" controls within the settlement, accounting and treasury functions globally. This position laid the groundwork for Ms. Smith's expertise in financial management within high-stakes environments.
Ms. Smith's career began in 1990 as a customer service representative and subsequently a staff accountant at Home Federal Savings Bank. During those five years, she gained foundational knowledge and skills in accounting practices and principles, which have been instrumental in her ascent through the ranks of corporate finance.
Ms. Smith's academic background has significantly impacted her professional success. Since 1991, she has held an Associate of Arts in Business Administration and Management from Hagerstown Community College. Subsequently, she received a Bachelor of Science in accounting and business management and a Master of Business Administration from Frostburg State University in 1992 and 2003, respectively.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Ms. Smith is actively involved in various civic-minded organizations. She is a member of Cornerstone For Women Leaders and volunteers at local homeless shelters and youth programs through her church.
