Subsequently, she received a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and elementary education from Immaculata University and began her career as a teacher. Over the years, she expanded her professional knowledge by earning a Master of Arts in education specializing in guidance and counseling at Villanova University and working as a school counselor with the Chester Upland School District for over two and a half decades.

Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, Ms. Gillen aligned herself with several industry organizations, including Delta Kappa Gamma, Kappa Kappa Iota, the American Association of University Women, and various professional, religious, and social associations. In conjunction with her work, she has contributed to her community through educational associations and donating to her local church.

While her career has been filled with highlights, Ms. Gillen takes the most pride in graduating with both of her higher education degrees. Looking toward the future, she intends to enjoy her retirement. Ultimately, Ms. Gillen aims to expand upon her travels by going to Cuba.
