Ms. Garrett has carved out a distinguished career in the nuclear power industry over the past four decades. Since 2023, she has been serving as a senior reactor operator license instructor at STP Nuclear Operating Company in Bay City, Texas, imparting her extensive knowledge to nuclear power plant operators. Her role is critical in training licensed operators by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and assisting them in maintaining their qualifications to operate the facility. Ms. Garrett specializes in simulator instruction and training operators on managing accident conditions and failures within the plant.

Prior to her current position, Ms. Garrett was a contract instructor for NextEra Point Beach at GSE Solutions and an instructor at NextEra Energy Inc. in 2023. She previously worked for Duke Energy Corporation in Hartsville, South Carolina, where she was a contract instructor from 2014 to 2015 and nuclear operations license instructor between 2015 and 2023. Ms. Garrett was also a professional instructor with Gilbert Consulting Services from 2012 to 2013. Earlier in her career, she spent over 20 years at Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation, where she progressed from a reactor operator to a control room supervisor and a license instructor between 1989 and 2011.

Active in her community, Ms. Garrett enjoys giving back to various causes. She advocates for her local humane society and donates to independent news organizations, including The Intercept, The Guardian, and Democracy Now.

Building upon her practical experience, Ms. Garrett completed college coursework in nuclear science engineering, which laid the foundation for her technical proficiency. Her most notable achievement was earning a reactor operator's and a senior reactor operator's license.
