Before joining Hendrickson and Long PLLC, Mr. Robertson gained valuable experience with one of the state's respected law firms. Hired out of law school as an associate at Shuman, Annand, and Poe PLLC in Charleston, West Virginia, he rose to become a partner between 1996 and 1999. Mr. Robertson also worked at Farmer Cline and Campbell PLLC in Charleston from 1997 to 2023, where he focused on product liability and personal injury law.

In preparation for his legal career, Mr. Robertson obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration with a minor in economics, summa cum laude, from West Virginia State University in 1989 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from West Virginia University in 1992. He has been admitted to practice by the West Virginia Bar Association, the U.S. District Court for the Southern and Northern Districts of West Virginia, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia, the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, and the Supreme Court of the United States. Besides these accomplishments, Mr. Robertson received credentials as a Certified Pistol Instructor through the National Rifle Association of America and a first-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do.

Mr. Robertson's commitment to his field includes membership with the West Virginia Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He was also active on the West Virginia National Moot Court Team and served as a West Virginia state liaison for the Defense Research Institute. Mr. Robertson's endeavors extend beyond his professional engagements to community service. He actively participates in his local church as a dedicated Christian and serves as a speaker for Gideons International, and on his church emergency response team.

While pursuing his law degree, Mr. Robertson was recognized for his contributions by winning the West Virginia Baker's Cup in 1990, an esteemed competition held at the college of law at West Virginia State University and judged by the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia.
