WINSTON SALEM, NC, January 21, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Pamela L. Phillips has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Leveraging more than three decades of excellence in providing therapeutic care, Ms. Phillips has earned distinction as the founder and executive director of A Sure House, Inc., which operates as a level three mental health residential facility specifically designed to cater to the unique needs of teenage boys facing behavioral or mental health challenges. Since establishing the organization in 2006, she has advocated for increased consideration and awareness of the challenges faced by youth, emphasizing that many of them go unnoticed due to misconceptions about their behavior, while rejecting the notion there are any children who are simply "bad," instead asserting that their actions often stem from underlying trauma.
As a qualified mental health professional, Ms. Phillips leads a team of similarly skilled mental health professionals and residential counselors. She and her team create a therapeutic environment and facilitate the integration of these boys back into home settings by imparting essential coping skills to mitigate severe behaviors. She also identifies suitable placements for the boys, arranging foster care or adoption options when necessary, ensuring their well-being by accompanying them to monthly medicine management appointments as well.
Prior to her current position, Ms. Phillips worked as a teacher's assistant for exceptional children and was an English teacher for middle and high school students with the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools in North Carolina from 2002 until 2007. She has also been a jail and prison minister through the Forsyth Jail and Prison Ministries for 33 years.
To prepare for her professional journey, Ms. Phillips earned a bachelor's degree in English from Winston-Salem State University in 2002. Eminently qualified in her field, she holds certificates of training in multi-systemic therapy, in clinical decision-making for the treatment of oppositional defiant disorders and attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder and in reducing the risk for denials by creating appropriate plans and writing effective notes. Added to these, she is an ordained and licensed minister in good standing since 1992.
Looking to the future, Ms. Phillips intends to retire from her career in mental health while continuing ministering to others and contributing to housing solutions for individuals experiencing homelessness. Driven by the mission to offer optimal home dynamics and support for those who may otherwise slip through the cracks, she may utilize the 13-room group home as a resource for this endeavor.
