Prior to his current role, Mr. Schirm served as the organization's program director from 2021 to 2022. From 2019 to 2022, he served as the president of Rudolf Steiner College in Fair Oaks, where he honed his administrative and leadership skills. His passion for sports previously led him to become the director and junior national sports development coach at Orienteering USA between 2012 and 2020. Additionally, Mr. Schirm successfully co-founded Find Adventure Sport between 2018 and 2019 and Adventure Running California from 2015 to 2018, two ventures that combined his entrepreneurial spirit with his love for outdoor activities.Mr. Schirm's educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in physical education from Syracuse University in 2011. He also obtained a level II coaching certificate in track and field and certification in spatial dynamics, movement therapy, and movement education.
Outside of his professional life, Mr. Schirm is deeply committed to civic engagement and community service. He was a board of directors member for the Bay Area Orienteering Club from 2015 to 2019 and the Korczak School between 2015 and 2017. Mr. Schirm's dedication to advancing the sport of orienteering is further demonstrated through his membership and volunteer work with Orienteering USA, where he was notably recognized with a Service Award for his contributions.
