FRANKLIN LAKES, NJ, January 22, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Kenneth Stanley Mayers, PhD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
As a result of his father's public service vocation and his work at the university level, Dr. Mayers grew up in a public-facing academic environment. Not only did he benefit from his contact with remarkable scholars and his early access to research libraries and laboratories, he also learned the value of education. He developed a passion for using education to enact change in individuals and their societies. Though Dr. Mayers had initial ambitions to attend medical school and therefore completed pre-medicine requirements in college, he decided to follow a different path, as his experiences convinced him that the more profound roots of problems were social, and he wanted to play a part in addressing them.
Dr. Mayers earned a Bachelor of Arts in General Arts and Sciences from Pennsylvania State University and a Doctor of Philosophy in Comparative Literature from the University of California, Los Angeles. During his graduate studies, he was fortunate to study in Paris and Tunis through international programs. After earning his degrees, Dr. Mayers began a career in teaching at Bergen County Technical Schools, where he taught for nearly 30 years.
During his career as a high school teacher at a public magnet school, Dr. Mayers became increasingly actively involved in Amnesty International, USA, where he helped develop a vision of transformative human rights education for the 21st century. When he retired in 2020, having also served on the board of directors for Amnesty International, he joined Reza Fakhari, then Chair of the AIUSA Board and Vice President for Internationalization at St. Francis College in downtown Brooklyn, to develop a human rights minor and design new university courses there. While continuing as an adjunct professor at St. Francis College, Dr. Mayers also started working as an education consultant in 2022 for One2One College Consulting.
In his freelance position at One2One College Consulting, Dr. Mayers researches and assists with academic and personal growth experiences, which includes customizing courses, internships, study abroad and exchange programs, and experiential learning in general.
He considers his greatest achievement his efforts to pioneer innovation in the classroom, exploring ways to teach gifted and other neurodiverse students and promoting accessibility and cultural and economic diversity.
Reviewing an adventurous career in education, including managing K-8 afterschool STEAM enrichment programs, helping to coach competitive math teams, developing academic courses to train the first generation of teachers to use the internet, and helping to develop the first Apple training program for adult education on the East Coast, Dr. Mayers attributes his success to the nurturing campus environments of his childhood. His next project is to publish a book on human rights education for educators, working closely with his colleague Pierre Lubin.
In the coming years, he plans to form a team to launch an innovative educational think tank, focusing on artificial intelligence, digital divides, and helping underserved individuals gain better access to the most powerful educational tools and teachers. To accelerate the think tank's development, Dr. Mayers would like to create a fellowship program to support talented young students as think tank scholars.
