Dr. Hampton has found success as a distinguished faculty member at the State University of New York at Oswego, where she has dedicated over two decades of expertise to teaching and mentoring students. With an impressive career in academia spanning nearly 50 years, Dr. Hampton specializes in race, class, gender and sexuality studies. She is responsible for teaching a school pedagogy course in social justice and has taught both undergraduate and graduate classes on issues related to these critical topics.

Prior to her tenure at SUNY Oswego, Dr. Hampton served as an adjunct professor at the State University of New York at Buffalo from 1975 to 1998. During this period, she honed her expertise in American studies and women's studies, contributing significantly to the academic community. In addition to her academic roles, Dr. Hampton has been actively involved with various civic-minded organizations. She has contributed to a political nonprofit organization, demonstrating her commitment to social causes beyond the classroom. Dr. Hampton's most notable achievement was earning a PhD in American studies and women's studies from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1998. She also holds a Master of Arts from the same institution, obtained in 1992, and a Bachelor of Arts in American studies and sociology, awarded in 1985. Dr. Hampton credits her success to the mentorship and support she received from the faculty at SUNY Buffalo and SUNY Oswego, who recognized her potential and encouraged her academic pursuits.

Dr. Hampton's contributions have been recognized with several awards, including the Outstanding Service in Education Award from the National Women Studies Association in 1989 and the Award for Excellence from the Everywoman Opportunity Center in Buffalo, New York, in 1988.
