NEW ORLEANS, January 23, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Mavis S. Early, JD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Driven by a mission to inspire others, Ms. Early has distinguished herself across more than 15 years of experience in the hospitality industry. In her role as the executive director of the Greater New Orleans Hotel Association (GNOHA), a nonprofit private organization that represents the local hotel and lodging industry, Ms. Early serves as a tireless advocate for the value of New Orleans tourism and travel and helps to promote strategic alliances among the organization's corporate members.
Likewise, she serves as executive director of GNOHA's charitable nonprofit, the Hospitality Education Foundation, which works to promote local awareness regarding careers in hospitality and provide educational and financial support for those who hope to pursue their own professional journeys in the field. Through her efforts, GNOHLA has contributed extensively to various philanthropic endeavors, including deep collaborations with Habitat for Humanity, the New Orleans Restaurant Association, and St. Jude's Community Center.
Prior to her work in the hospitality field, Ms. Early earned distinction for over two decades in legal service, during which time she served as a city attorney during the administration of Marc Morial, who was mayor of New Orleans from 1994 to 2002. Her career in this role was marked by notable achievements, including the resolution of numerous cases without the need for settlements or judgments. She also assisted in streamlining the city's legal processes, and revamped the workers' compensation division by establishing an outside contract, which resulted in remarkable improvements. Her role as the attorney for the city council and the mayor enabled her to effectively represent their interests while running the law department.
Before becoming city attorney, Ms. Early studied at Loyola University, after which she acquired valuable work experience at a law firm. Although she initially had doubts about her career path and the potential to earn more in other fields, her family's encouragement helped her consider it as a viable and interesting option. After receiving a Doctor of Jurisprudence at the New Orleans College of Law at Loyola University, she was involved in various lobbying activities and demonstrated a strong commitment to achieving goals.
Passionate about helping others and steering younger professionals toward the career of their dreams, Ms. Early is gratified to have served as a mentor on behalf of many, regardless of their circumstances. Looking toward the future, she remains committed to her family, including her son, whom she takes great pride in having raised, and her husband, with whom she hopes to spend more quality time in the coming years. As she looks forward to completing her current position, Ms. Early plans to reflect on future steps to find a balance that allows her to continue her career while dedicating more time for personal enrichment.
