Mr. Shepherd is the founder, chief executive officer, and creative director of panOpticon, a premier company in New York City that caters to the needs of artists' estates and foundations, scholars, working artists, and researchers seeking tools to manage and publish art provenance research. At the helm since 2006, he leverages over 35 years of experience in his profession, marked by a series of significant roles that have shaped his expertise and influence in the art and design industry.Mr. Shepherd's career in the art and design industry began in 1971 when he joined the Artists for Environment Foundation in New Jersey as a faculty member in painting and printmaking. His tenure of 10 years was marked by significant recognition. During his tenure, Mr. Shepherd was also recognized for curating the exhibition, "Delaware Water Gap: American Landscape Painting 1825-1975" from 1975 to 1976.In 1980, Mr. Shepherd founded Visual Artists Inc., a nonprofit organization that raised funds and was a fiscal agent for large-scale, collaborative, public art projects throughout New York and New Jersey. He served as the director of his organization until 1992. During his tenure, Mr. Shepherd began serving as an adaptive reuse study project manager for "A Design Study for Adaptive Reuse" in Weehawken, New Jersey, from 1987 to 1988, showcasing his versatility and commitment to innovative design solutions. He continued to expand his influence as an exhibition curator for "Drawing in the Present Tense" between 1999 and 2000.Mr. Shepherd's expertise extended into digital realms when he worked as a web designer and writer and as an electronic archivist for Architectural Record in New York City from 1998 to 2005. His tenure as a typographer and designer for the Samuel Becket Bilingual Project at Grove Press in New York between 2005 and 2006 was also instrumental in his success.

One of Mr. Shepherd's most notable achievements throughout his career was his involvement with the German institution that published "The Artist Estate," a handbook by Loretta Würtenberger. This collaboration underscores his dedication to maintaining harmony between art, its owners, and foundations and serves as a testament to his enduring impact on the art world.

Mr. Shepherd's education includes a Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in 1970. This foundational education instilled a deep-seated passion for art, which he credits as the driving force behind his numerous achievements.

Throughout his career, Mr. Shepherd has been an active member of several industry-related organizations, including the American Institute of Graphic Arts, the Catalogue Raisonn Scholars Association, the College Art Association, and the International Foundation for Art Research. His contributions to these organizations reflect his commitment to advancing the field of art and design.
