Before launching his consulting company, he was instrumental as the senior vice president of medical affairs at Viridian Therapeutics Inc. from 2023 to 2024. Dr. Geissler also served as the vice president of medical affairs and program lead for anti-VISTA antibody at Curis between 2021 and 2023. His tenure as the vice president of medical affairs at Horizon from 2020 to 2021 also helped solidify his reputation as a leader in the medical community.

Dr. Geissler held several other leading roles throughout his career, including Lumicell as the chief medical officer overseeing groundbreaking research and development initiatives between 2017 and 2019. His leadership was instrumental in these initiatives. Dr. Geissler also excelled as the vice president and regional medical head at Sanofi Genzyme from 2016 to 2017 and as the regional chief medical officer for Japan, Australia, and South Korea at Sanofi Genzyme between 2014 and 2016. As the senior medical director of oncology, hematology and transplantation at Sanofi Genzyme from 2012 to 2014, he was pivotal in advancing cancer treatment protocols.

After earning his medical degree, Dr. Geissler was a clinician who served as a staff surgeon at the University of Leipzig in the department of surgery and solid organ transplant from 1998 to 1999. Subsequently, he garnered experience as a research associate in transplant immunology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In 2001, he returned to the University of Leipzig as a staff surgeon. Dr. Geissler also taught as an assistant professor of surgery at the University of Wisconsin Health from 2002 to 2008, was an associate director of medical affairs in immunoscience at Bristol-Myers Squibb between 2008 and 2010 and was a director of medical affairs for infectious disease and a principal medical scientific expert for global clinical development at Novartis, until 2012.

Following his undergraduate studies, Dr. Geissler earned a Doctor of Medicine in general surgery and solid organ transplant surgery from the Technical University of Munich. He later earned a Doctor of Philosophy in immunology from the University of Tübingen. Dr. Geissler also completed residencies in the department of surgery and organ transplant at the University of Tübingen and the University of Leipzig.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Dr. Geissler is an active member of several industry-related organizations, including the American Association for Cancer Research, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Transplantation, the American Society of Transplant Surgeons and the German Society of Surgery.
