ARLINGTON, TEXAS, January 25, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Wilma L. Howell Davis has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Ms. Davis is a staff software engineer at Bell Helicopter Textron in Hurts, Texas, where she has made significant contributions to aerospace engineering. Her primary responsibilities include creating mathematical models of aircraft parts, modeling threat environments around the aircraft and simulating threats shooting at the aircraft. Ms. Davis has been with the aviation and aerospace component manufacturing company since 2001 as a software engineer in the flight simulation area. She also held the title of engineering chief of simulation integration from 2012 to 2014.
Before her tenure at Bell Helicopter, Ms. Davis was a staff software engineer at Lockheed Martin. She also garnered success with General Dynamics in the 1980s, where she gained valuable experience that would shape her future endeavors.
Ms. Davis's academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in computer science with a minor in electrical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 1981. Subsequently, she received a Bachelor of Science in mathematics and computer science with a minor in electrical engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1983. Ms. Davis attributes her success to her college professors, who encouraged her to step out of her comfort zone.
In addition to her professional achievements, Ms. Davis is actively involved in several industry-related organizations, including the Society of Women Engineers (SWE). She has also received numerous accolades for her work, including a Bell Helicopter Award in 2021, a Legacy Award from Bell Helicopter and an All-Star Award from the Society of Women Engineers in 2024. CC Magazine also nominated Ms. Davis for the Black Engineer of the Year in 2001.
Apart from her accolades and nominations, Ms. Davis has contributed to various projects, including creating a robot arm for the children of Expanding Your Horizons and teaching them how to code it with specific inputs. Another highlight was forming a group at her church that focuses on using technology for discipleship among the youth aged 12 to 18.
Ms. Davis plans to retire from Bell Helicopter and pursue teaching technology at the college level, particularly in historically black colleges and universities. She is four classes away from a master's degree and plans to obtain a doctorate. Ms. Davis's commitment to education and mentorship continues to influence her career and personal aspirations, making her a respected figure in her professional field and community.
