LOS ANGELES, January 26, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Terry L. Burge, MEd, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Burge, a distinguished educator and consultant, has made significant contributions to the field of education over his extensive career. Currently, he serves as the creative guru and chief executive officer of Burge Educational Consultants, which he established in 2023. Through his agency, Mr. Burge leverages his vast expertise in literacy, math, English language development, working with students with disabilities, project-based learning, brain-based teaching and Universal Design for Learning to provide innovative solutions, professional development and coaching for executives, administrators and teachers at all education levels to support to educational institutions.

Before starting Burge Educational Consultants, Mr. Burge served as a district administrator for the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) from 2019 to 2022. In this role, he was responsible for overseeing nearly 10 struggling schools under the school improvement grant during former President Obama's administration. His efforts led to substantial progress across these schools, particularly in one high school located in a challenging area of Los Angeles. Under his guidance, the school--which had been neglected for years--became a model of success.

Prior to his tenure at LAUSD, Mr. Burge worked as a consultant for Orendo Education, where he specialized in improving struggling schools. His work with various school districts, including Linwood and Whittier School Districts, focused on providing support and techniques to improve performance and academic outcomes. His systematic approach along with his dedication to ensuring every child receives the necessary support have been key factors in his success.

Mr. Burge's journey in education began in the 1990s as a teacher, where he quickly demonstrated his ability to inspire and lead. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to lifelong learning and adaptability; he truly embodies the spirit of perseverance and positivity, both of which have been keys to his remarkable success. Mr. Burge fearlessly confronts challenges, always pushing forward with unwavering determination and embracing each change with open arms. He holds steadfast to the belief that each day holds the potential for new knowledge and cherishes all opportunities to learn and grow.

During the pandemic, Mr. Burge exemplified these traits when his role as an administrator adapted and shifted. After training teachers to transition to online teaching, a task that required him to stay ahead of the game and learn new skills quickly, he stepped down from his administrative role to teach third grade. Though this decision was difficult, it proved to be one of the most rewarding experiences in his 25-year career within the district. Not only did his time teaching change his perspective on remote education, but it also reinforced his belief in its potential when executed effectively and allowed him to become empowered, deeply engaged with his students and connected with parents.

Coupled with his extensive professional experience, which includes having served as a principal, literary coach, instructional specialist, intervention coordinator and teacher, Mr. Burge's academic background laid a strong foundation for his professional achievements. He earned a Master of Education in educational leadership and administration from California State University, Los Angeles, in 2009. Prior to that, he completed a Bachelor of Science in communication and media studies at Lamar University in 1988. Such academic credentials have been instrumental in shaping his approach to educational leadership and administration and fueling his professional growth.

Mr. Burge's commitment to his professional development is further evidenced by his receipt of the Trainer of the Year Award, recognizing his exceptional skills in training educators. Alongside his professional contributions and accomplishments, he is an active member of several industry-related organizations, including the National Association for Administrators and the National Education Association. As a result of his own educational achievements, he holds membership with Phi Beta Kappa Fraternity and the Blue Key Honor Society.

Outside of his professional life, Mr. Burge is the proud father of two children. He is passionate about traveling, learning about different cultures, reading, painting and photography--interests that enrich his professional endeavors, allowing him to bring a well-rounded perspective to his work in education. Overall, Mr. Burge's dedication to improving educational outcomes for students and supporting educators through innovative solutions has left a lasting impact on the communities he has served.
