Currently employed by Intel since 2015, he serves as a solution architect and service provider NFV for the influencer sales group. In this role, Mr. Horner has played a pivotal role in transforming how telecommunications infrastructure globally builds and operates its networks, which is crucial for an industry that generates approximately $4 trillion a year in revenue.
Before joining Intel, Mr. Horner was an area manager of network engineering at BVoIP, ATandT, in Richardson, Texas, from 2013 to 2015 and as a principal member of the technical staff at ATandT between 2010 and 2013. His tenure at Sonus Networks from 2004 to 2009 included roles such as senior member of the technical staff, director of the verification office test and support, and vice president of system verification and test, where Mr. Horner demonstrated his expertise in ensuring product quality and reliability.
Mr. Horner's career also included significant contributions to Ulticom from 1998 to 2004, where he progressed through various roles from project engineer to lead engineer. His early years were characterized by innovation and leadership at companies such as 2021.Interactive as the vice president of research and development in 1997 and North Coast Logic as the general manager of engineering between 1995 and 1997. Mr. Horner became active in the industry in 1984 when he joined Quatech as a software engineer.
In preparation for his career, Mr. Horner's academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in electrical and electronics engineering and a Master of Science in electrical engineering with a focus on communication systems from the University of Akron in 1985 and 1990, respectively. Before entering college, he honorably served his country in the U.S. Army from 1975 to 1978.
Mr. Horner's commitment to advancing the field is further evidenced by his status as a senior life member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. Throughout his career, he has garnered several patents in his field. Mr. Horner also co-authored his first paper in 2023 via Artech House.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Mr. Horner has dedicated himself to community service as a house lead for North Collin County, Texas, for Habitat for Humanity International since 2009 and through activity on the ECE department industry advisory council at the University of Texas at Dallas since 2017.
