POWELL, OHIO, January 28, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Mike Guertin, MD, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process. Dr. Guertin is a distinguished figure at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, where he has made significant contributions to anesthesiology and medical administration. Since 2021, he has served as the chief perioperative medical director, overseeing the operational efficiency of the operating rooms and ensuring they maintain high performance standards. Since 2019, Dr. Guertin has also held the role of professor of anesthesiology, sharing his extensive knowledge and experience with medical students, and as the director at the Faculty Leadership Institute.

Before being recognized as a full professor on campus, Dr. Guertin was an associate professor of anesthesiology from 2013 to 2019 and an assistant professor between 1992 and 1998. He was also appointed as the medical director of ambulatory surgical services at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center between 2013 and 2022. Apart from his contributions at the university, Dr. Guertin's earlier career includes significant tenures as a member of the board of directors and medical director at The Ohio Surgery Center from 2009 to 2013 and as a partner at Premier Anesthesiologists at The Ohio Surgery Center from 1998 to 2013.

Dr. Guertin is revamping the preoperative perioperative process at the medical center. He has created a system called Comprehensive Perianesthesia Systems and Solutions (COMPASS) to ensure that patients are directed in the right direction for surgery. The system comprises three major components. In addition to his professional endeavors, Dr. Guertin has been a devoted fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 11445, since 2004.

Building upon his professional expertise, Dr. Guertin's educational background laid a strong foundation for his career achievements. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry, magna cum laude, in 1984 and a Doctor of Medicine in 1988 from Wayne State University. He subsequently completed his residency in anesthesiology at The Ohio State University in 1992. Furthering his education and administrative acumen, Dr. Guertin obtained a Master of Business Administration from The Ohio State University in 2015. He was notably inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma National Business Honor Society.

Adding to his professional commitments, Dr. Guertin has been a member of several industry-related organizations, including the American Association of Physician Leaders, the Society of Ambulatory Anesthesia, and the American Society of Anesthesiologists.

Dr. Guertin's professional career is marked by leadership and innovation. His early interest in medicine and dedication to teaching have been integral to his success and recognition within the medical community. As such, his academic excellence has been recognized with several awards, including a Department of Anesthesiology Teacher of the Year Award from The Ohio State University Medical Center in 1995. Dr. Guertin's business acumen was acknowledged when he became a Weidler Scholar at the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University in 2015.
