NORWALK, CT, January 29, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Mathieu D. Roberts has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Individuals named in the famed biographical volume are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors taken into account include position, noteworthy accomplishments, position, visibility and prominence in a field.
Mr. Roberts, founder and principal of Majestic Motion Picture Technology, has been a noteworthy figure in the field of cinematography for over three decades. Since establishing his company in 1990, he has worked with a dedicated team on various high-profile projects. Recently, he was a cameraman operating his company's innovative Technocrane in the filming of Hermes, Chanel, and Maybelline commercials. He has just completed work as director of photography on a short dramatic film exploring a marriage in crisis, to be released this winter.
Mr. Roberts began his career at Richard Avedon Studios as a photo assistant in 1982, where he learned his craft and the skills to one day run his own creative business. While developing negatives and test prints of Avedon's portrait series "In the American West," he gained a priceless knowledge in darkroom and photographic magic. In 1988, he began a long collaboration with Martha Stewart, shooting and producing her video series "Martha Stewart's Secrets of Entertaining," as well as forty Kmart commercials featuring Stewart as the original influencer. These projects significantly raised her national profile. He photographed her farmhouse restoration for her book, "New Old House." His work with Stewart is featured in the Oscar-nominated Netflix documentary by R.J. Cutler, "Martha," which was shown at the Sundance Film Festival and premiered on Netflix on October 30.
In 1990, now an established lighting director, he launched Majestic Light, a successful motion-picture lighting company which he expanded into industry innovator Majestic MPT. With the cutting-edge technology invested in his company's Technocranes and the remote stabilized-camera systems, Roberts and his crew were able to create camera moves that were previously impossible.
Mr. Roberts has worked on many award-winning projects including the Academy Award-winning documentary "American Dream" in 1991, and has contributed to several award-winning music videos, including Coldplay's "Up and Up" and Dave Mathews' "Crash." He and his Majestic MPT team worked on many major films, such as "Panic Room," "Benjamin Button" and the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise. His contributions to the industry are further recognized through his memberships in the International Cinematographers Guild: Local 600, and International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees: Local 52.
A graduate of Vassar College with a Bachelor of Arts in 1983, Mr. Roberts attributes much of his success to the influence of his father, Dick Roberts, a creative filmmaker known for his pioneering work in documentaries, industrial films, and commercials. This familial inspiration led him to pursue a career in photography and cinematography.
Mr. Roberts's passion for cinematography is evident in every project he undertakes. He approaches all productions, large or small, with equal passion and attention to detail. His dedication to his craft continues to inspire those around him and solidify his reputation as a trusted expert on any film set. See his work at MathieuRoberts.com.
