Dr. Moody is an esteemed military veteran and educator with a distinguished career spanning several decades. As an assistant professor of instruction at the University of South Alabama since 2015, he has made significant strides in online education, ensuring that his students receive high-quality instruction regardless of the format. Dr. Moody's commitment to integrating the latest technology into his classes is evident through his innovative podcast, Optimistic Tales, which he launched in 2022 to facilitate interviews and discussions with local leaders for his students.

Before joining the University of South Alabama, Dr. Moody was an assistant professor at Air Force Retiree Services from 2009 to 2013. During that same time frame, he was also an assistant professor in the department of military and strategic studies at the U.S. Air Force Academy. Dr. Moody's academic roles were preceded by a notable military career, which began in 1993 and concluded with the rank of lieutenant colonel in 2013. During his service, he notably served as a force management advisor and CJ-1 personnel liaison officer from 2007 to 2008. He also spent a year deployed to Afghanistan.

Dr. Moody earned a Bachelor of Science in commercial music, cum laude, in 1989 and a Master of Business Administration in management and marketing at the University of North Alabama in 1992. Additionally, he received a Doctor of Philosophy in political science, international relations, and American government from the University of Florida in 2008. Among other educational endeavors, Dr. Moody completed coursework in military operational art and science from the Air Command and Staff College in 2007 and advanced military and operational studies at the Air War College between 2010 and 2013.

Dr. Moody's professional achievements are complemented by his life membership in the Military Officers Association of America. His dedication to community service is further demonstrated through his volunteer work with local community activities and festivities.

Reflected on a career marked by dedication to education, service to his country, and a commitment to community engagement, Dr. Moody's multifaceted experiences have shaped him into a respected educator and valued community member. Looking ahead, he aims to continue his teaching career at South Alabama. Furthermore, he plans to continue producing his podcast with the goal of securing an interview with Paul McCartney. As a former bassist and vocalist with Zydeco Elvis from 1988 to 1990, Dr. Moody longs to delve into the musician's philanthropic endeavors, a topic greatly overlooked in previous interviews.
