Ms. Berger is a dedicated professional with a robust career in nonprofit leadership and education. As the chief executive officer of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Big Sky Country, a position she stepped into in 2023, she is committed to fundraising and development, working closely with finance committees to ensure the organization's sustainability for the next 50 years. Day to day, Ms. Berger oversees a team of nearly 10 staff members, including over five of whom are involved in program management and several others in development.
Collaborating with the development manager, Ms. Berger organizes streaming and fundraising events. Under her leadership, the organization matches children with responsible, positive volunteer mentors, thereby providing support to those from various backgrounds, including foster care, juvenile detention and families with incarcerated parents. Additionally, they are reaching out to the Spanish-speaking community and collaborating with other nonprofits to support families facing challenges such as homelessness.
Prior to rising up to her current position, Ms. Berger served as the chief operating officer of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Big Sky Country from 2022 to 2023. In this capacity, she played a crucial role in operational management and strategic planning. Overall, her tenure at Big Brothers Big Sisters has been marked by her unwavering commitment to supporting children in the community. Before joining Big Brothers Big Sisters, Ms. Berger was the adaptive sports director for Eagle Mount's Adaptive Ski Program and Cycling Program from 2014 to 2022.
In this role, Ms. Berger developed and managed programs that provided adaptive sports opportunities for individuals with disabilities. In this position, her work significantly enhanced the quality of life for many participants by promoting physical activity and social inclusion. Ms. Berger's professional journey began in education, working as a math teacher at an alternative school from 2008 to 2009. Additionally, she served as a math and science teacher with the Peace Corps in Kenya from 2006 to 2008, where she contributed to educational development in underserved communities.
In 2002, Ms. Berger earned a bachelor's degree in math and chemistry for secondary education from Montana State University and thereafter obtained a Master of Business Administration from the University of Scranton in 2015. As a result of her education degree and time teaching, she holds a teaching license for 5th through 12th grade math and chemistry in Montana. In addition to her professional roles, Ms. Berger has been actively involved in various civic organizations.
Most notably, Ms. Berger managed 250 volunteers across 15 departments at Bozeman Health from 2020 to 2022, initiating five new departments during the COVID-19 pandemic. Such efforts were instrumental in ensuring continued support for patients and staff during a challenging time. Her dedication to community service is further exemplified by her participation in the Bozeman Leadership Program through the Chamber of Commerce, an experience that has honed her leadership skills and expanded her network within the community.
In all she has pursued and accomplished, Ms. Berger attributes her success to her determination to help and unite individuals for positive causes. All in all, her career is a testament to her commitment to making a difference in the lives of others through education, mentorship and community service.
