PENDLETON, IN, January 31, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- John D. Phillips has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Phillips has dedicated five decades to the automotive industry, establishing himself as an expert in automotive calibration and emissions regulations. His career began at Delco Remy in 1974, where he worked as an engineer until 1997. During this period, he focused on electrical power utilities and mechanical and electrical support for operating factories. He played a pivotal role in the production of maintenance-free batteries, overseeing the establishment of five manufacturing plants.

In 1996, Mr. Phillips joined Delphi, where he held multiple roles over the years. He served as a Shainin Red Master from 1996 to 2007, an engineering manager from 1998 until 2000 and a Six Sigma Master Black Belt between 2001 and 2007. His tenure at Delphi culminated in his position as a senior staff research engineer from 2003 to 2014. In these roles, he honed his skills in product development and quality control, contributing significantly to the company's advancements.

Mr. Phillips transitioned to FCA US LLC in 2014, where he served as a senior professional until 2024. His expertise was further recognized when he became a senior fellow at Stellantis between 2022 and 2024. In this capacity, he managed the calibration process for computer control programs, enhancing drivability for various vehicles. Reflecting on his time at Stellantis, he takes great pride in the new products launched under his watch, including Jeeps and Ram trucks.

In addition to his professional achievements, Mr. Phillips has been recognized with several accolades. He holds patents for powertrain controls, diesel emissions and ignition coil manufacturing. He was also acknowledged as a Rolling Top 5 Manager by Shainin. His contributions to the field are further evidenced by his co-authorship of an article titled "ECU Software Abnormal Behavior Detection Based on Mahalanobis-Taguchi Technique."

Mr. Phillips's academic background laid a strong foundation for his illustrious career. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Kettering University in 1979 and later obtained a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering with a focus on modern control theory from the Stanford University School of Engineering in 1985. His proactive approach to problem-solving and early recognition of potential issues have been key factors in his success.

Throughout his career, Mr. Phillips has been an active member of several industry-related organizations, including Tau Beta Pi's Sigma Nu chapter, the Society of Automotive Engineers and the American Society for Quality. His dedication to continuous improvement and innovation has left an indelible mark on the automotive industry. Looking ahead, he is focused on achieving a 10-year lifespan for batteries, considering factors such as calendar time, usage patterns, varying climates and different usage conditions.
