Mr. Humphrey is a distinguished professional in the field of lean manufacturing, currently serving as the director of continuous improvement at Petmate. With a career spanning nearly three decades, he has demonstrated expertise in new product development, project management, calibration, powertrain calibration engineering, mechanical and electrical design and new process development. His commitment to excellence and innovation has earned him recognition within the industry.

Mr. Humphrey started his career as a mechanical engineer at BouMatic from 1994 to 1995. He worked at Kohler Co. as a mechanical engineer from 1995 to 1997 before transitioning to Harley-Davidson, where he held several roles over the next 17 years. Initially serving as a development engineer II until 2002, he was promoted to senior development engineer, a position he held until 2008. Subsequently, he became a technical staff engineer until 2014. During his tenure at Harley-Davidson, he achieved one of his proudest accomplishments: developing and creating the first electronic fuel injection motorcycle for the entry-level market.

In 2014, Mr. Humphrey joined Apex Tool Group LLC as a global value analysis manager. While there, he implemented Value Analysis Value Engineering (VAVE) within lean practices and established the department's structure for this role. His work at Apex Tool Group was instrumental in shaping his proficiency in lean methodologies. In 2020, he founded OpEx Business Solutions LLC, where he continues to provide consulting and project management services.

Mr. Humphrey's educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1996 and a Master of Engineering Management from the same institution in 2004. He attributes his success to having good mentors and being open to learning while exercising empathy with everyone he encounters. He feels that the values instilled in him while growing up in the Midwest have kept him grounded throughout his career.

In addition to his professional achievements, Mr. Humphrey is an active member of the Manufacturers Association for Plastic Processors and is involved with his local church. His dedication to community service reflects his commitment to making a positive impact both professionally and personally.

Outside of his career, Mr. Humphrey enjoys spending time with his family. He finds joy in house projects, working on engines, troubleshooting issues with cars and motorcycles, challenging himself mentally, and watching college football, high school football and baseball. Sports and spending time with friends are also among his favorite pastimes.

Looking ahead, Mr. Humphrey aspires to guide Petmate in implementing lean practices. Establishing a strong foundation for lean principles throughout the business excites him daily and drives his motivation to witness positive change within the organization.
