Throughout his military career, he also held several key roles, including executive officer to the commanding general at U.S. Africa Command from 2012 to 2013 and colonel in the U.S. Army from 2008 to 2014. Furthermore, he served as MNFI deputy J6 from 2009 to 2010 and joint staff J6 IED defeat branch chief from 2006 to 2008.

Throughout his military career, Mr. Kilgo's expertise in signal communications and information systems has been widely recognized within the military community. He holds a Master of Science in national security strategy from the National Defense University, which he earned in 2009, and a Master of Science in systems technology from the Naval Postgraduate School, which he completed in 1995. Additionally, he holds a Bachelor of Science in math and natural science from Virginia Union University and was later honored with an honorary Doctor of Philosophy from his alma mater. These academic achievements have been instrumental in his professional success, providing him with a strong foundation in technical and strategic disciplines.
