Additionally, he was the medical director for East Tennessee Skilled Care/Nursing Home Care between 2012 and 2015 and held a similar position at Clinch Valley Hospital from 2009 to 2011.

During his tenure at Clinch Valley Hospital, a small community hospital in rural southwest Virginia, Dr. Johnston successfully revitalized the hospital program, significantly improving patient care within the local community. Previously, patients were required to transfer elsewhere. Dr. Johnston's daily patient list notably grew from two individuals to as many as 40 to 50, signifying a notable expansion in the facility's reach and impact.

Throughout his career, Dr. Johnston has been driven by perseverance, unwavering dedication, and a passion for saving lives. Driven to leave Franklin Woods Community Hospital in 2014 to establish his own practice focused on comprehensive addiction treatment has been the cornerstone of his success.

To prepare for his medical career, Dr. Johnston's academic journey began with a Bachelor of Science in biology with a minor in history from East Tennessee State University in 2001. He notably played collegiate basketball during his undergraduate years. He then earned a Doctor of Medicine from the American University of the Caribbean in 2006. Additionally, Dr. Johnston completed a residency in internal medicine at East Tennessee State University in 2009. His commitment to specialized care led him to become board-certified in addiction medicine.
