From 2002 to 2010, Mr. Plottel was the global head of design and engineering at Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research Inc. Mr. Plottel began as an engineer at Hardesty and Hanover LLP in 1988.

Mr. Plottel's academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Columbia University in 1988, a Master of Science in engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 1991, and a Master of Business Administration in finance and strategy from Yale School of Management at Yale University in 1998.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mr. Plottel is actively involved in professional and civic organizations. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. He has also been appointed as the City of Newton Economic Development Commission commissioner since 2004 and is a past chair of the organization.
