After earning a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from the University of California, Los Angeles, in 1971, Dr. Todhunter expanded his professional knowledge by completing a Master of Science in chemistry at California State University, Los Angeles, in 1973. Subsequently, he conducted research on the control of RNA polymerase gene transcription and expression as a fellow for Hoffman-La Roche. Similarly, Dr. Todhunter oversaw large-scale yeast and bacterial fermentations and isolation of fermentation products for research use while pursuing a PhD in biochemistry at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Upon joining the Catholic University of America as an assistant biology professor in the late 1970s, Dr. Todhunter consulted for the FDA and some private clients while overseeing biochemistry, physiology, and pharmacology research and education. During his tenure with Catholic University, he also worked on funded research projects regarding genetic toxicology testing, the toxicology of chemotherapy agents, in vitro neurotoxicity models, the effects of aging on gene transcription, and more. In the ensuing years, Dr. Todhunter was appointed as an assistant administrator for pesticides and toxic substances for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, through which he helped implement the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act, and the Toxic Substances Control Act.

Backed by his considerable experience, Dr. Todhunter excels as the president of SRS International, where he has worked for over 40 years. Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, he aligns himself with several organizations, including the American Society of Toxicology, the American Chemical Society, the American Society for Clinical Pharmacology, and the American Institute of Chemists, where he was named a fellow. While his career has been filled with highlights, he takes the most pride in getting effective drugs and household products approved through the FDA and EPA.

Though hard work and dedication have brought him far in his career, Dr. Todhunter credits his success to remaining abreast of advancements in the field and his ability to analyze problems and develop solutions.
