This international nonprofit aims to enhance open and accountable decision-making and governance regarding sustainable development. In this capacity, she aims to resolve such crises as climate change, the current geopolitical situation, and more. Before obtaining her current position, Ms. Zubcevic worked for the United Nations as the director of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs, director and chief of the Department's Ocean and Climate Branch, and senior sustainable development officer.
During the early stages of her career, Ms. Zubcevic gained valuable expertise in management and sustainable development positions with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Croatia and the Croatian News Agency. An expert in her field, she holds a Bachelor of Science in humanities and linguistics and a Master of Science in humanities and social sciences from the University of Zagreb. Subsequently, Ms. Zagreb expanded her professional knowledge by completing a certificate in public administration from Harvard University, a diplomacy certificate from the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna, and a public diplomacy certificate from the Center for Diplomatic Studies.
Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, Ms. Zubcevic aligns herself with the International Society of Sustainability Professionals and the National Association of Professional Women. Outside her work, she is a board member with Soroptimist International of New York City, which works to improve the lives of women and girls. Due to her vast knowledge, she has contributed to several book chapters and books, including "Countries in Special Situations, United Nations 2015" and "Inclusive Institutions for Sustainable Development, United Nations 2016." Likewise, Ms. Zubcevic wrote several book chapters on mainstreaming sustainable development in "Expert World Leaders Book" and sustainable development goals in "Heroes of Environmental Diplomacy."
In recognition of her outstanding achievements, Ms. Zubcevic has been featured in Millennium Magazine and honored with an Exceptional Women of Excellence Award through the Women's Economic Forum. She has also won the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award and a Certificate of Appreciation for Dedicated Service to the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development. While her career has been filled with highlights, she takes the most pride in working in a core group of the United Nations Secretariat. Though hard work and dedication have brought her far in her career, she credits her success to her love of what she does and her desire to make a difference.
