Dr. Sands-Pingot is a distinguished professional with a multifaceted career spanning military service, academia and private practice. He has served as a senior executive in private practice since 2018 and is also a professor of program management at the Defense Acquisition University. Prior to his current roles, he served as the director of human capital for the Office of the Chief Army Reserve, under the U.S. Army, from 2014 to 2018. Preceding this, he was the assistant deputy chief of staff for integration and synchronization at the U.S. Army Material Command from 2011 to 2014.
Dr. Sands-Pingot's career also includes significant contributions as the assistant inspector general for inspections at Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction from 2009 to 2010 and the brigadier general of the 353rd Civil Affairs Command in the U.S. Army from 2005 to 2008. Earlier in his career, he was a company executive officer and exchange officer with the British Territorial Army's A Company and The Black Watch in Dundee, Scotland, from 1988 to 1989.
Dr. Sands-Pingot attributes his success to his determination and commitment to achieving his goals. His career began after receiving his commission through Fordham University's ROTC program and entering active duty upon completing his bachelor's degree. He dedicated nearly a decade to military service before pursuing further academic achievements and returning to active duty during Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He also served as the deputy NATO ambassador to Afghanistan during the mission in 2017, completed numerous assignments in Afghanistan and has conducted various other overseas missions and emergency responses.
Serving as a foundation for his career, Dr. Sands-Pingot earned a doctorate in leadership studies from Creighton University in 2015. He also holds a Master of strategic studies from the U.S. Army War College, obtained in 2003, and a Master of Arts in political economy from Fordham University, completed in 1995. Additionally, he was a postgraduate fellow in political economics at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland in 1990. He graduated with his initial Master of Science in international relations from Troy University in 1987 and a Bachelor of Arts in Russian area studies from the City College of New York in 1978.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Dr. Sands-Pingot has been recognized with several prestigious awards and honors, receiving the Distinguished Service Medal from the U.S. Army in 2016. He was also named Knight Commander of The Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre by the Holy See in 2006 and appointed Knight of Justice of The Venerable Order of Saint John of Jerusalem by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 1990. He is also a knight of the jury of the Constantinian Order of St. George and contributes civically to several of these orders.
Outside his professional life, Dr. Sands-Pingot enjoys playing the piano and staying physically fit. Looking ahead, he hopes his oldest daughter will attend the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, as she excels both academically and athletically, particularly in track.
