Mr. Mihailovic is a senior staff engineer employed by GE Aerospace in Pompano Beach, Florida. Leveraging over three decades of expertise in power electronics systems, he is active in decision-making meetings about design, testing and development, as well as hands-on design, testing and troubleshooting. Mr. Mihailovic's expertise in power stage hardware design, control design and testing of various types of power conversion units has made him a technical lead for aircraft power supply projects.
Since joining GE Aviation (now GE Aerospace) since 2018, Mr. Mihailovic has significantly contributed as a technical lead to design, product development and troubleshooting of 40-kilowatt DC/AC inverter units for aircraft power supply system, addressing transformer overheating, control and other issues. His involvement in testing multiple revisions of transformers and transitioning from discrete component power boards towards power modules has dramatically improved efficiency, saved space and enhanced unit reliability.
Having begun his professional journey as a senior electronics technology engineer at Black and Decker in 1996, Mr. Mihailovic became a principal systems engineer at BAE Systems between 2005 and 2010, where he garnered extensive success in a leadership role for design, integration, testing and delivery of electric power trains for military ground vehicles. Following this leadership role, he was a member of the technical staff at Advanced Energy from 2010 to 2011. Mr. Mihailovic's subsequent roles as a lead design engineer at Jabil Circuit Inc., senior power engineer at EandM Power, and senior power electronics consultant at Intertie between 2011 and 2018 further honed his skills in power electronics.
Mr. Mihailovic has held a diploma in electrical engineering from the University of Belgrade since 1991 and a master's degree in power electronics from Virginia Tech since 1998. Mr. Mihailovic's academic background has been instrumental in his professional achievements, providing him with the foundational knowledge and skills necessary for success.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mr. Mihailovic is an active member of several professional and civic organizations. He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and was an area director for Toastmasters International for year 2016.
During his tenure as a principal systems engineer at BAE Systems, Mr. Mihailovic was recognized with a Chairman Award and Team Recognition Award in 2008 and 2010, respectively. He also received multiple Impact Awards since joining GE Aerospace. Mr. Mihailovic attributes his success to his unwavering dedication, strong work ethic and unconditional family support.
Mr. Mihailovic plans to continue his tenure at GE Aerospace, focusing on technical aspects while broadening his involvement in shaping the company's future direction and decision-making processes. He is also preparing to launch Evzone Systems, an innovative startup to optimize power flow in various energy subsystems, such as electric vehicle battery chargers, distributed energy resources, renewable energy resources, and microgrids. Mr. Mihailovic envisions developing software to control, optimize and synchronize these entities collectively as a system. The company plans to user such systems as virtual plants distributed across the network, harnessing their collective power in contrast to existing power generation from locally concentrated transmission grid-rated counterparts.
