TERRE HAUTE, IN, February 07, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Sylvester "Coach" Edwards has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Sylvester Edwards has distinguished himself as a dedicated advocate for civil and human rights, currently serving as the president of the Greater Terre Haute NAACP Branch. Since assuming this role in 2014, he has worked with individuals facing various issues, advising them and referring them to organizations capable of giving them aid. He also frequently partners with those individuals and organizations to solve larger concerns. Currently, his primary focus is on environmental justice for people of color and those living in rural areas along with increasing electric vehicle accessibility by improving the charging network in their community.

Prior to his current position, Mr. Edwards had a diverse career that spanned several fields. He worked as a chauffeur for Foster Grandparents through the Western Indiana Community Action Agency for 18 years after working as a track and field coach at a local high school from 1992 to 2002. He spent an additional 10 years in sales at Time Warner Cable, where he honed his skills in communication and customer service.

Mr. Edwards' expertise in civil and human rights is further underscored by his role as a board member of the League of Women Voters, where he continues to advocate for voter education and participation. His contributions to society have been recognized with several awards, including the Breckenridge Award from the Indiana State Conference of NHEP and being named Outstanding Young Man of America in 1981.

Mr. Edwards' academic background serves as the foundation for his professional success. He earned a degree in vocational-technical education from Indiana State University in 1986, which equipped him with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively contribute to society. Beyond his education, he attributes his professional success to his late mother who was a driving force throughout his life and career.

Beyond his professional duties, Mr. Edwards is actively involved in civic-minded organizations as a chartered member of the Rides Community Optimist Club. Looking ahead to his future, he aspires to travel frequently and reconnect with friends across various locations.
