Well-known in his field, Dr. Bailey is a senior software engineer at Google, serving in this role since 2022. In this position, he is responsible for making technical decisions, focusing on stewardship, mentorship and broadening his influence beyond local spheres. He is also involved in debugging, creating new features and identifying ways to enhance systems for a more significant impact on the end user. Additionally, he collaborates across teams to resolve interpersonal or inter-organizational issues more efficiently.

Before joining Google, Dr. Bailey served as a senior software engineering lead at Microsoft from 2021 to 2022. During his tenure there, he is very proud to have played a pivotal role in developing foundational technology for their public cloud in a secure environment. He identified inefficiencies and shortcomings in the system's design and addressed these issues, significantly reducing the engineering resources consumed by addressing bugs. This led to substantial growth within the organization.

Dr. Bailey's career in software engineering began at Raytheon in 2016, where he specialized in guidance, navigation and control (GNC) for flight control. He was promoted to various roles at Raytheon during this tenure there, including responsible engineering authority, GNC engineer, GNC team lead and senior GNC engineer.

In addition to his roles at Raytheon and Microsoft, Dr. Bailey has an extensive background in mechanical engineering. He served as chief engineer at Castor Engineering Inc. from 2009 to 2016 and worked as a machinist and technician at the same company from 2007 to 2009. He also contributed to academia as an adjunct faculty member at California State University, Fullerton from 2013 to 2016.

Dr. Bailey's academic achievements include a Doctor of Philosophy, a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from California State University, Fullerton in 2014, and a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the same institution in 2013. He also holds certifications as a Triplebyte-certified generalist software engineer and a certified SolidWorks professional.

Dr. Bailey has further contributed to his field through his involvement with the Society of Automotive Engineers since 2011 and his published work, "Quaternion State Estimation," in the International Journal of Engineering Sciences and Management in 2014. He attributes much of his professional success to his strong curiosity, dedication to continuous learning and refusal to accept the status quo.

Outside of his professional life, Dr. Bailey enjoys aviation, boating, sailing, being outdoors, hiking and spending time with his family. In the future, he aims to focus more on his family as his kids grow into their early teens. He wants to guide them to success and help them make a significant impact.
