VIRGINIA BEACH, VA, January 27, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Ronnica S. Edmonds has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ms. Edmonds has dedicated her career to the field of early childhood education and child development with a focus on supporting military families. As a program analyst for the United States Department of Defense, she conducts research on early childhood and child development hubs in the civilian sector. Her work involves examining licensing standards and evaluating the quality rating improvement system to ensure these centers align with Department of Defense standards. This role is crucial as many child care facilities receive funding to care for military children and families, ensuring they receive the best possible care.

Ms. Edmonds first began operating a child development home while living in Germany, caring for children of military families while their parents were at work. From 1989 to 1992, she worked as an early childhood educator for the United States Army. Her passion for nurturing children was further fueled by her experiences working at Department of Defense schools in Georgia, where she initially handled kitchen duties but was inspired by a child in a wheelchair to provide exceptional care. She later advanced to become the child development center director at NAS Oceana and NSA HR from 2006 to 2012.

In 2012, Ms. Edmonds became the regional supervisor for training and curriculum specialists at United States Navy Child and Youth Programs, a position she held until 2013. She then served as the regional child and youth program director from 2013 to 2023, overseeing programs that provided exceptional care to more than 3,000 military children and families. After retiring in August 2023, she was federally appointed as a program analyst, allowing her to continue her commitment to improving child care standards.

Ms. Edmonds' educational background includes a Master of Arts in early childhood education and Bachelor's Degree from Columbus University. She earned her Associate's Degree from Tidewater Community College via the TEACH Program with United Way of South Hampton Roads. Ms. Edmonds' was the first TEACH graduate from the United Way of South Hampton Roads. She has earned Magna Cum Laude on all degrees. To augment her knowledge and qualifications, she is certified as a Military School Age Representative (MSA) and Program Development Specialist (PDS) by the Council for Professional Recognition and as an observer by the National Association for Family Child Care (NAFCC).

Known for her contributions as a civic-minded citizen, Ms. Edmonds' community involvement includes serving as a guest speaker at Tidewater Community College and participating as a rater for the Virginia Quality Birth to Five Program. Additionally, she has been involved in organizing the Child and Youth Hiring Fair since 2016. Her outstanding work has been highlighted by commendation letters from the Department of the Navy and numerous letters of recognition by the Department of the United States Army.

Outside of her professional life, Ms. Edmonds enjoys reading, watching action and detective movies and spending time with her four grandchildren. Looking to the future, she intends to volunteer at homeless shelters, volunteering/cook for residents of the Fisher House Foundation and support churches that aid single parents and families affected by domestic abuse. Her dedication extends to assisting her children in guiding their own children toward success while continuing to support organizations like United Way of South Hampton Roads through food bank initiatives.
