AUSTIN, TX, January 29, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Thomas W. Grimshaw, Ph.D., has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, his profile was selected based on current reference value. Factors such as positions, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Dr. Grimshaw prepared for his career with education at first-class academic institutions. He earned a B.S in geological engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in 1967, followed by M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in geology from The University of Texas at Austin (UT) in 1970 in 1976. Between the M.A. and Ph.D. degrees he began his professional journey as a US Army officer.
After receiving his advanced degrees, Dr. Grimshaw worked for several decades in the environmental field, both at UT and in the private sector. He applied his earth science education in projects for both environmental planning for the future and cleanup of legacy pollution problems. During this time, he was licensed as a professional geologist in Texas. He also continues his membership in the American Institute of Professional Geologists.
In 2008 he undertook a career change with a M.P.Aff. (Master of Public Affairs) degree at UT's LBJ School of Public Affairs. He focused on energy policy and wrote his professional report on public policy toward cold fusion. Since then, he has carved a distinguished career as an expert in cold fusion, leveraging his extensive background in geology and environmental services to contribute significantly to this emerging area of science. Given that energy from cold fusion may become available to replace fossil fuels, its potential value to humanity has skyrocketed with recognition of the global climate change crisis.
Dr. Grimshaw believes that cold fusion was mistakenly rejected by mainstream science, which happened within a year or so of its announcement in 1989. He began his work in the field with an analysis of public policies toward cold fusion support for research and development. Using arguments based on evidence-based policymaking, he showed that the current negative public policies stemming from the rejection must be changed. Subsequently, he developed public interest arguments for proactive measures to deal with cold fusion's secondary impacts. Technology assessment was put forward as an effective way to address these impacts of cold fusion as a highly disruptive new technology.
In the past few years, Dr. Grimshaw has provided more direct support to the cold fusion community, starting with advisory services to parties interested in the phenomenon and then helping prepare proposals for research labs. More recently, he has conducted a program to document the work of cold fusion researchers while it is still available. About 20 to 25 projects have been done for primary investigators and others in the field. He has prepared or been the lead author of more than 90 cold fusion papers, articles, reports and presentations.
Dr. Grimshaw's work is driven by his acute awareness that the future of humankind depends on reversal of current negative policies toward cold fusion to deal with the global climate change crisis. He is also passionate about capturing researchers' records before they are lost due to retirement or for health reasons.
