Dr. Hulin has built a formidable reputation as an expert in laboratory animal medicine and has extensive experience in pharmaceuticals and contract research organizations. In 2020, he launched LAM&S Consulting LLC and as the owner, president and chief executive officer, he partners closely with cancer research organizations to assist with AAALAC accreditation and has conducted animal welfare audits across North America and Europe. Dr. Hulin is also proud to have collaborated to ensure compliance with the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, which has helped solidify his presence in the field.

Before progressing to his current appointment, Dr. Hulin excelled as the vice president of integrated biological platform sciences at GSK from 2020 to 2023, during which time he also served as the president and chief executive officer at Laboratory Animal Medicine and Science Consulting. In 2020, he accepted the title of global head and senior vice president of laboratory animal sciences at Biomere, and Dr. Hulin's professional contributions include other significant roles such as executive director of veterinary sciences at Bristol-Myers Squibb from 2017 to 2020 and institutional official and executive director at Amgen from 2013 to 2017.

Dr. Hulin initiated his career with a residency in laboratory animal medicine at the University of Michigan from 1994 to 1997, followed by positions at Pfizer as a clinical veterinarian and project leader from 1997 to 2003. He gained additional valuable experience and refined his broad skill set as the director of comparative medicine at Merck from 2003 to 2005. He also prioritizes networking and is a council member emeritus of AAALAC International, where he served on the council on accreditation from 2016 to 2023, and from 2021 through 2022, he was the elected president of the National AALAS, a role he considers a career highlight due to his long-standing volunteer work with the organization. Additionally, Dr. Hulin is a diplomate of the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine.

Pursuing a passion forged during his childhood for positively impacting animals and people, Dr. Hulin earned a Bachelor of Science in animal science from Rutgers University in 1992. To complete his academic training, he subsequently completed a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and was proud to graduate summa cum laude from Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1994, the same year Dr. Hulin was recognized with both the Small Animal Surgery Award and Small Animal Clinical Medicine Award.

Outside his professional life, Dr. Hulin enjoys playing golf, target shooting and swimming, and he harbors a keen interest in cars. Looking toward the future, Dr. Hulin aims to continue consulting for AAALAC International and seek other opportunities for engagement that align with his niche expertise and contribute positively to the industry.
