Dr. Shree Walker is an esteemed author, educator and motivational speaker whose work centers on resiliency and trauma. She is also the chief executive officer of Resilient Walker LLC since 2018, in this capacity, she engages with diverse demographics, sharing timeless truths across various environments including treatment facilities, prisons, faith-based organizations, schools and college groups.
Prior to her professional journey marked by her role as director of strategic leadership at Five Keys Schools and Programs from 2022 to 2024, she focused on leadership development to increase self-awareness and emotional intelligence for marginalized and vulnerable populations. Dr. Shree served as the special education and SELPA director at Rowland Unified School District in Rowland Heights, California, from 2021 to 2022. Her career in education began as an exceptional education instructor at Davidson County Public Schools in Greater Nashville, Tennessee, from 2004 to 2011. She later became the dean of students at Jere Baxter Middle School in Greater Nashville from 2012 to 2013. Her dedication to education continued as she took on the role of director of Section 504 & special populations at Davidson County Public Schools from 2013 to 2021. Additionally, she was an adjunct professor at Belmont University from 2014 to 2021 and at Fisk University 2019-2020.
Dr. Shree's academic achievements are a testament to her commitment to education and personal growth. She earned a Doctor of Education in curriculum and instruction from Tennessee State University College of Agriculture, Human and Natural Sciences in 2017. Prior to that, she completed an Education Specialist degree in administration and supervision education specialist from the same institution in 2011. Her academic journey also includes a Master of Education in special education from Lipscomb University in 2007 and a Bachelor of Arts in history from Fisk University in 2003. She has furthered her expertise with certifications in diversity, equity and inclusion from e-Cornell University in 2024, Resilience Education, Stress Management and Resilience Training Certified Program in 2024, and the Public Education Leadership Project at Harvard University in 2018.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Dr. Shree is actively involved in civic organizations. She served as board member of the Sexual Assault Center 2017- 2019 and has volunteered with the Charter School Review Board and Foster Care Review Board. Her contributions have been recognized with several awards, including the Golden International Honor Society award in 2016 and Teacher of the Year in 2011.
Dr. Shree is also an accomplished author with several publications to her name, including "University Community Partnerships in Teacher Preparation: Changing Attitudes About Students with Disabilities," published in the Journal of Public Scholarship in Higher Education in 2017. Her other works include "Educate Me!: Changing Ourselves, Inspiring Others" and her memoir series "Resilient Walker," "Secret Keeper" and "Trees, Dreams, Balloons & Things!"—a deeply personal account of her experiences and the strategies she employed to navigate challenges growing up. As a keynote speaker, she has shared her insights at events such as the Orange County MTSS Conference and the San Diego Equity Conference.
Outside of her professional life, Dr. Shree enjoys running, racquetball, tennis, tetherball, reading, swimming, doodling and spending time in parks. She draws inspiration from her personal experiences to empower others on their journeys toward healing and resilience. Looking ahead, she plans to establish a nonprofit organization dedicated to community support while achieving fluency in Spanish to connect with a broader audience. She envisions creating an adult field day event with proceeds supporting counseling services and scholarships for college students through a partnership with Converse.
