TUCSON, AZ, February 07, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Michael S. Dow has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Dow is a distinguished psychiatric nurse and author. With a career spanning multiple fields, he has established himself as an expert in psychiatric nursing, currently serving at Palo Verde Behavioral Health since 2020. In his role as a registered nurse, he administers medications, conducts psychiatric assessments and leads therapeutic sessions on various topics. His dedication to maintaining a therapeutic environment for patients underscores his commitment to their treatment and recovery, as does his continued membership in the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.

In addition to his primary role, Mr. Dow has served as a registered nurse with Universal Health Services Inc. since 2020 and is an on-call instructor at the University of Arizona, where he imparts his knowledge to aspiring nurses. His involvement in education extends beyond the classroom as he dedicates significant time to writing children's books through Dow Creative Enterprises. As the author of the "Nurse Florence" and "Nurse Dorothea" series, he combines storytelling with education, introducing medical concepts to young readers and addressing mental health topics for teenagers.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Dow supported combat veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder as an advocate and recovery care coordinator with the U.S. Army Wounded Warrior Program (AW2) from 2011 to 2019. He began his journey in the United States Air Force, where he served from 2002 until 2010 as a mission crew commander before being medically retired with the rank of captain. During his military service, he was selected to represent his unit at the Combined Air Operations Center and completed six deployments to the Middle East.

Playing a crucial role in shaping Mr. Dow's career was his extensive academic background. He first earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Auburn University in 1999, followed by a Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2001. After his military career, he obtained a Master of Science in management with a concentration in human resource management from Troy University in 2010. He then earned a master's degree in health administration from the University of Phoenix in 2017 and completed his education with a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Arizona College of Nursing in 2020. Inspired by his parents' dedication and hard work, he attributes much of his success to their example.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Mr. Dow is civically involved as the co-founder, treasurer and endower for a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising funds for donating "Nurse Florence" books to libraries nationwide. His contributions to literature have been recognized with numerous awards, including two Independent Press Awards for Best Series and the Distinguished Favorite Award from the New York City Big Book Award, among others. He has also received many accolades for his service in the Air Force and for his contributions at AW2 and Palo Verde Behavioral Health.

Writing children's books is Mr. Dow's true passion, and he envisions transitioning to full-time authorship while continuing to work at the hospital. With plans to develop approximately 30 additional children's book series and establish a nursing history museum in Tucson, he aims to inspire young readers and address public health challenges through his creative endeavors.

Looking further ahead, Mr. Dow intends to create a nonprofit organization to support nursing students facing financial emergencies, using royalties from his book series to address the nursing shortage. His vision reflects his commitment to making a positive impact on both individual lives and the broader community through education and advocacy.
