Pooja Chawla, an attorney based in Birmingham, Alabama, was motivated by her early experiences of discrimination in India to pursue a career in law. She obtained a BA in English literature at the University of Delhi, followed by a post-graduate diploma in public relations at the Rajendra Prasad Institute of Communication and Management in 1999. After immigrating to the United States, she pursued a JD at the Birmingham School of Law. After graduating in 2009 and beginning her career in law, Ms. Chawla initially established her own firm. She then served as a judicial assistant to the Honorable Eugene R. Verin in the Circuit Court of Jefferson County. Following the completion of her clerkship, she resumed operating her firm, where she provides legal assistance to low-income families today.
