HAMILTON, IN, April 15, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Schauna Relue, PhD, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Relue, an esteemed expert in curriculum and assessment, has dedicated her career to enhancing educational systems and supporting student success. In 2020, she joined her current employer, the Metropolitan School District (MSD) of Steuben County, as the director of curriculum and instruction. In this capacity, she played a pivotal role in navigating the district through the reopening process during the COVID-19 pandemic. Her efforts focused on curriculum development and teacher training to support students and preparing and managing grants to ensure student safety and academic recovery.

In 2022, Dr. Relue was promoted to the position of assistant superintendent. Her primary responsibilities in this role are to oversee federal programs and manage funds to bolster educational outcomes and expand innovation in education. Additionally, she coordinates professional development, supervises principals, and leads various projects and initiatives. Currently, she overseeing the development of the P-CAP program to provide a hands-on, project-based, team approach to learning to engage students who are not thriving in the traditional school setting. P-CAP is set to launch in the fall of 2025. She is also spearheading efforts to redesign the high school curriculum and establish an early college program. Dr. Relue also oversees all Career and Technology Education (CTE) initiatives and has added 12 new pathways not previously available in the district.

In addition to fulfilling her responsibilities as an assistant superintendent, Dr. Relue owns Dr. Schauna's School for Educational Results, which she established in 2011. She has also provided professional development as a Time to Teach trainer since 2020. Additional experience as an educational consultant at the C2 Collaborative from 2013 to 2015, CF Educational Solutions from 2018 to 2021 and Close Education LLC from 2018 to 2020 provided her with the knowledge and skillset necessary for her to establish her own coaching enterprise.

Before becoming a full-time consultant, Dr. Relue worked in educational technology and assessment, serving as a senior partner and the director of success and policy at Key Data Systems in 2018 and the director of software engagement and strategic partnerships at Five-Star Technology Solutions from 2015 to 2018. In these roles, she ensured programs aligned with state requirements and trained educators in curriculum development, formative assessment, and data warehousing.

From 2011 to 2013, Dr. Relue was the chief academic officer at Goodwill Education Initiatives Inc., a charter school network. Goodwill's mission is to help the unemployed become employable, but many of their clients had never graduated high school, which is a significant barrier to securing work. To remedy this issue, the organization established the Excel Center, which served adults seeking high school diplomas. However, they lacked the necessary components to provide effectual program offerings. For Dr. Relue, ensuring that graduates were successful and equipped with the right skills was a priority, so she created an integrated curriculum to enhance course efficiency. For example, students could now receive course credits for both English language arts and social studies by taking a single humanities course. This approach helped students learn cohesively and allowed them to complete multiple courses simultaneously.

All Excel Center graduates were required to earn college credit or obtain an industry-recognized certification. To facilitate this process, Dr. Relue established partnerships with local businesses and several certification programs, including a collaboration with a community college, which enabled students to earn dual credit. Having begun with a single school that graduated about 20 students in its first year, Goodwill Education Initiatives has since expanded to a charter network. It now operates 16 sites in Indiana, with additional locations in Texas, Washington, D.C., Missouri, and Tennessee.

From 2010 to 2011, Dr. Relue made notable contributions as the director of curriculum and instruction for the Indiana Department of Education. Among these was her work at the state level to provide state curriculum maps aligned to college-and-career-ready standards. These maps gave schools the framework to intentionally sequence curricula, ensuring educators understood the standards and their depth and how to assess them effectively by aligning the state formative assessments to the state curriculum maps. This approach aimed to increase student achievement by providing high-quality instruction aligned to state standards.

Dr. Relue began her career as an English teacher at Noblesville High School. She also taught in Benton County and Tippecanoe County and worked as an administrator in Frankfort, Indiana. Dr. Relue moved to Fort Wayne to serve as the principal of a Montessori Magnet School, which she successfully led to becoming the first public institution accredited by the American Montessori Society. She then served as the director of curriculum services for the Fort Wayne Community Schools district from 2002 to 2010, helping lead the school improvement initiatives that led the district to an A rating.

Using her experience and passion for Montessori education, Dr. Relue opened a Montessori preschool at the MSD of Steuben County, handling all aspects of the operation, including hiring and training staff, procuring all Montessori materials and setting up the classroom environments. Last year, the team converted their border elementary school, Pleasant Lake Elementary, into a Montessori school, allowing the district to offer a public Montessori experience from pre-kindergarten through sixth grade.

Dr. Relue's academic achievements have been instrumental in her career success. She earned a Doctor of Philosophy in educational and organizational leadership from Purdue University in 2002, a Master of Education in curriculum and instruction from Indiana Wesleyan University in 1997, where she earned the Outstanding Professional award, and a Bachelor of Arts in English education from Purdue University.

Dr. Relue's commitment to education extends beyond her professional endeavors. She taught at a Wednesday night Bible program for children and was a Sunday school director and praise team leader for several years. She was also a board member and president of the Indiana Principal Leadership Academy, a board member and president of the Indiana ASCD and a board member and president of the Avon Choir program. She maintains civic involvement through regular volunteer work and as the president-elect of her local Rotary Club.

Dr. Relue's motivation to make a difference and help others achieve greatness has driven her success, along with her ability to synthesize opportunities and foster collaboration. Looking toward the future, she aims to transform the MSD of Steuben County into the most sought-after district in the area by offering unique programs that address the needs of students and families while meeting the requirements of community business partners.
