His leadership in these positions has been instrumental in shaping the strategic direction and success of the firms. Before joining Legacy M&A Advisors, he served as principal and broker at The Bradway Group from 2000 to 2008, where he honed his skills in business brokerage and client relations.

Mr. Ertel's career began with significant roles in various industries. He was president and chief operating officer at Premier Bedding from 1999 to 2000, where he oversaw operations and strategic initiatives. From 1981 to 1997, he held multiple executive positions at Batesville Casket Company, now LongRange Capital LLC, including vice president marketing and executive vice president of operations. During his tenure, he led a transformative project that converted the company's distribution system to a hub-and-spoke model, significantly enhancing operational efficiency.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Ertel was strategic planning manager for GE Major Appliance at General Electric Company from 1980 to 1981 and manager of new business development at a packaging company from 1976 to 1980. He began his professional journey as staff marketing researcher at 3M Company from 1969 to 1976. Throughout his career, Mr. Ertel has been actively involved with industry organizations such as M&A Source and the Alliance of Merger & Acquisition Advisors.

Mr. Ertel's educational background laid a strong foundation for his professional achievements. In 1969, he graduated top of his class with a Master of Science in industrial administration from Krannert School of Management (now Mitch Daniels School of Business) at Purdue University. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Purdue University, which he earned the same year. Additionally, he obtained a private pilot license in 1969, showcasing his diverse interests and capabilities.

His commitment to excellence is reflected in numerous accolades, including the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Alliance of Merger & Acquisition Advisors in 2011 and the Founder's Circle Award in 2010. The same organization has recognized him multiple times as Chairperson and Member of the Year. In 1995, in recognition of his contributions to his alma mater, he received the Distinguished Alumni Award from the Krannert School of Management.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Mr. Ertel is dedicated to civic engagement as a board member of the Business Intermediary Education Foundation. He enjoys playing golf, boating and spending time with his three daughters and grandchildren.
