Since 2025, he has directed the branch that tests and analyzes the build-up of electrical charge on military weapon systems, showcasing his expertise in high voltage instrumentation and transient assessments. His journey to this esteemed position began with his role as an engineer team lead from 2021 to 2025, where he was instrumental in forging relationships with various military groups to enhance his team's visibility and success.

In 2016, Mr. Melton began his career at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head Division as an entry-level electrical engineer. Over five years, he honed his skills and knowledge, eventually leading to his promotion as a team lead. His dedication and strategic vision culminated in establishing a new branch within the division in 2024, a testament to his leadership and commitment to excellence. Additionally, Mr. Melton has served as an organization effectiveness warrant officer since 2022, further contributing to the center's operational success.

Mr. Melton's academic foundation is rooted in a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC), completed in 2016. This educational background laid the groundwork for his technical proficiency and innovative approach to engineering challenges. He attributes much of his success to the encouragement and support of his mother, grandmother and wife, who have been pivotal influences throughout his life.

Beyond his professional achievements, Mr. Melton is actively involved in civic and community initiatives. He served as an armor bearer for Christian Unity Baptist Church from 2016 to 2019 and transitioned to a youth pastor at Family Restoration Ministries from 2020 to 2022. Currently, he serves as a Sunday school teacher for 3- and 4-year-old children at SouthPoint Church in Leonardtown, MD. He has participated in various outreach programs, including STEM Career Day at Samuel Chase Elementary School and coaching youth soccer for the St. Mary's Soccer Club. Mr. Melton also contributes to his community by supporting higher education development programs on the board of advisors for the University System of Maryland – Southern Maryland (USMSM). His commitment to diversity and inclusion was recognized with an Equal Opportunity Employment, Diversity and Inclusion Award in 2022. Mr. Melton also received a Technical Proficiency Award from NSWC IHD in 2023, commemorating his various accomplishments concerning ESD assessments in the Navy and Marine Corps.

In addition to his career accomplishments, Mr. Melton is dedicated to his family life. He enjoys spending quality time with his two sons by playing soccer and building Legos. An advocate for health and fitness, he also frequents the gym, focusing on maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Mr. Melton is also a food enthusiast who enjoys discovering excellent cuisine.
