His role at Iron Orchard Operating involves finding and aggregating acreage for development, negotiating contracts, managing a team of experts and ensuring compliance throughout the development process. Mr. Hoops began his career as a field landman with Petrocasa Energy in 2008, then joined Chesapeake Energy as a landman from 2009 to 2010 before moving to Mewbourne Oil Company in 2011. In 2012, he achieved a significant milestone by joining Anadarko Petroleum Corporation as a landman, where he worked until 2016. Despite facing challenges such as layoffs due to industry downturns, he persevered and transitioned to an independent contract landman role in 2016.

In the same year, Mr. Hoops joined Plantation Petroleum Company V as a land manager. He then advanced to become the vice president of land at Sable Bay Energy from 2017 to 2018. His career continued to flourish with roles at Williams Production and Exploration (WPX) Energy as a landman in commercial development from 2019 to 2021 and senior staff landman at Devon Energy from 2021 to 2023 before assuming his current position at Iron Orchard Operating.

Mr. Hoops' educational background includes a Bachelor of Business Administration in energy management and finance from the University of Oklahoma, graduating with honors in 2011. During his time at the school, he was active in the Energy Management Student Association and the Financial Student Association, reflecting his growing leadership acumen and desire to make a meaningful impact. To augment his knowledge and qualifications, he is certified as a professional landman (CPL) by the American Association of Professional Landmen.

Mr. Hoops' success is deeply rooted in his faith and the support of his family. Additionally, he attributes much of his professional growth to mentors like William Hough and Charles Lundeen, whose guidance and encouragement helped him build and maintain important relationships within the industry.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Mr. Hoops is actively involved in civic organizations such as Junior Achievement at Haley Elementary and Children's Safe Harbor in Houston, which strives to help children suffering from abuse or trauma find healing and lead healthy lives. Additionally, he is part-owner of a charitable organization known as the JC Fund, to which Iron Orchard donates 10% of its profits, highlighting the company's keen sense of social responsibility.

In his personal life, Mr. Hoops is a devoted father of two young children, Marshall and Walker, and a loving husband to Lauren. He enjoys hunting, golfing, carpentry and reading approximately 20 books per year.
