Leveraging decades of experience in this sector, Dr. Bartolini was the vice president of clinical pharmacology and DMPK at Ikena Oncology from 2021 to 2024. During his tenure, he was critical as part of the clinical research team in evaluating pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic relationships for the safety and efficacy of clinical oncology candidates. Before joining Ikena Oncology, Dr. Bartolini was the senior director of clinical research at Ironwood Pharmaceuticals between 2014 and 2021. His career with the company began as a senior scientist at Microbia Inc., now Ironwood Pharmaceuticals, from 2002 to 2006, where he built drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics (DMPK) and bioanalysis functions, among other achievements. He then became a principal investigator until 2014, when his work focused clinical development.

Earlier in his career, from 1999 to 2002, Dr. Bartolini gained initial industry experience at Micromass as subsidiary of Waters Corporation as a product specialist and applications scientist. He then had the opportunity to share his knowledge as an adjunct professor in the chemistry department at the University of Massachusetts Boston between 2003 and 2004.

Dr. Bartolini's academic background laid a strong foundation for his professional achievements. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry from McDaniel College and a Doctor of Philosophy in chemistry and biochemistry from the University of Delaware. As part of his continued success, Dr. Bartolini remains active through industry-related memberships with the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, the American Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, and the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics.

In addition to his professional endeavors, Dr. Bartolini actively supports charities focused on maintaining nature and wildlife. He has also contributed significantly to scientific literature with numerous publications, including notable works in Aliment Pharmacol Ther in 2022 and the American Journal of Gastroenterology in 2023.
