Mr. Beahm has established a distinguished career in marketing and academia, currently serving as a professor of practice in marketing at Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem, North Carolina, in the School of Business since 2009. With over five decades of experience in his profession, he has made significant contributions to the field, mainly through his dedication to teaching and mentoring students. Mr. Beahm is also the director of the Wake Forest Retail Learning Labs and serves as a faculty advisor to the university's marketing and advertising club. His involvement extends to serving on the graduate certification committee and faculty search committees.
Beginning his academic journey at Wake Forest University in 2005, Mr. Beahm was an adjunct professor in marketing, followed by his role as a visiting professor of practice in marketing from 2008 to 2010. Beyond his commitments in the classroom, he has succeeded as the founder, president and marketing consultant of Beahm & Associates LLC since 2007. Before launching Beahm & Associates LLC, Mr. Beahm co-founded Coyne Beahm Shouse Inc. in 1987, where he served as chief executive officer and company chair until 2007.
Mr. Beahm's career began at Procter & Gamble in 1972, where he held various roles, including brand assistant, assistant brand manager and brand manager until 1980. He then joined The Clorox Company as a marketing manager from 1980 to 1983. His expertise further developed at Kayser-Roth Corporation, where he served as the marketing director between 1983 and 1984 and as the vice president of marketing until 1985. Afterward, Mr. Beahm was recruited as the vice president and marketing consultant at Glendinning Associates from 1985 to 1986.
Mr. Beahm's educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Business and Master of Business Administration from the University of Colorado Boulder in 1972. From a young age, his fascination with retail merchandise sparked his interest in marketing, which became an integral part of his identity. Influenced by positive role models and educators throughout his career, Mr. Beahm attributes much of his success to their guidance and support.
Actively involved in civic organizations, Mr. Beahm has drawn satisfaction from his work with the Boy Scouts of America including serving as a past president of the Old North State Council. He also has served as a volunteer with the United Way. Today, Mr. Beahm remains active in his church.
Mr. Beahm's professional achievements are complemented by numerous awards, including the Kienzle Alumni Teaching Award and the Senior Class Teaching Award from the Wake Forest University School of Business for the 2021-2022 academic school year and the Charlotte Evening MBA Teaching Award for the 2023-2024 academic school year. He has also been quoted many times in the media for his expertise, including contributions to The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, the Associated Press, Fox News, Forbes, and Bloomberg Businessweek, among many others. Additionally, Mr. Beahm received the Volunteer of the Year award from the United Way of North Carolina.
As he approaches retirement from teaching at Wake Forest University in 2025, Mr. Beahm plans to focus more on volunteer work in his church as well as community while maintaining ties with the university. His dedication to education and mentorship defines his legacy on campus.
