PASADENA, CA, April 22, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Edward Stephen Nachtmann, PE, SE, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Renowned for his proficiency in structural engineering, Mr. Nachtmann is a distinguished expert in analyzing structural steel, reinforced concrete and timber structures. As the owner of Nachtmann Consulting DPC since 2015, he has dedicated his career to forensic engineering with a focus on inspecting damaged buildings and analyzing their deficiencies in relation to disaster events. His work has been vital in assessing damage and establishing forensic connections between structural failures and natural disasters such as earthquakes. He takes great pride in being able to aid communities and individuals during critical times of need.

Prior to founding his consulting firm, Mr. Nachtmann served as a structural engineer at Dewberry Consultants LLC in Los Angeles from 1998 to 2015. He was also a structural engineer at Parsons Brinckerhoff Inc. from 1995 to 1998 — during which he managed a project monitoring program to track the repair of facilities damaged by earthquakes — and at Barrett Consulting Group Inc. from 1991 to 1995. He held the position of assistant manager in the building structures department at Dewberry & Davis LLC in Fairfax from 1986 to 1990. During this period, he was responsible for managing teams of engineers and architects on Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) contracts, notably following the Loma Prieta earthquake.

Mr. Nachtmann's professional journey began with roles as a structural engineer at Thornton Tomasetti from 1980 to 1986 and an engineer trainee at LeRoy Callender, PC in 1979. His early experience as a union carpenter with various New York City construction firms from 1970 to 1978 laid the foundation for his future success in engineering.

Additionally, Mr. Nachtmann has shared his knowledge as an instructor at The City College of New York and has taught a seismic design and mitigation course at FEMA's Emergency Management Institute for over a decade. To stay aware of the latest developments and best practices in the field, he is affiliated with the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute, the Structural Engineers Associations of New York and Southern California, the Municipal Engineers of the City of New York and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Mr. Nachtmann's equally accomplished academic endeavors include a Master of Science in civil engineering in 1984, a Bachelor of Engineering in civil engineering in 1980 and a Bachelor of Science in physics in 1967, all obtained from The City College of New York. To augment his knowledge and qualifications, he successfully completed cost estimating format training through FEMA in 2007 as well as courses on nuclear blast-resistant structural design. Furthermore, he is licensed in both civil engineering and structural engineering.

Mr. Nachtmann attributes his storied success to his working-class background as well as his parents, who ensured he received a quality education through parochial schools. His upbringing instilled in him a sense of purpose beyond the physical world and guided him toward helping others through engineering.

Outside of his professional life, Mr. Nachtmann enjoys traveling, genealogy, model railroading and crafting miniature buildings. In the coming years, he plans to return to New York and wants to continue his passion for creating family trees while enjoying nature's serenity. Additionally, he looks forward to traveling, resuming his classical guitar playing and potentially teaching at The City College of New York again. His current and future goals reflect his unwavering desire to share knowledge and make a positive difference in the lives of others.
