ELKTON, MD, April 24, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Lori B. Pitcock, EdD, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. Dr. Pitcock has dedicated over two decades to the field of education, currently serving as the dean of students at Cecil County Public Schools in Elkton, Maryland. In this role, which she has held since 2024, she is responsible for overseeing student affairs and ensuring a supportive learning environment. Her commitment to fostering educational excellence is evident in her previous positions within the same school district.

Before becoming dean of students, Dr. Pitcock briefly served as a Title I local support teacher in 2024, where she focused on enhancing educational outcomes for students from low-income families. Prior to this, she was a secondary mathematics teacher from 2023 to 2024, demonstrating her versatility and dedication to teaching across various subjects. She also served as a gifted and talented instructional coach from 2016 to 2023, during which time she developed a program for gifted students that earned her the Maryland Gifted and Talented Teacher Award in both 2018 and 2019. She has taught various grade levels across elementary and secondary.

Dr. Pitcock's academic journey is marked by an impressive array of degrees and certifications. She earned her Doctor of Education in educational leadership and administration from the American College of Education in 2022. Additionally, she holds two master's degrees: one in elementary education curriculum instruction and assessment with a focus on reading intervention from Towson University, and another in educational leadership from the American College of Education. She also received three post-baccalaureate certificates in English as a Second Language, STEM Leadership, and Gifted Education from Salisbury University, Towson University and McDaniel College. Her commitment to professional development is further evidenced by her certifications from the AVID Center, including AVID DigitalXP Site Adminsitrtion-Secondary in 2024, AVID DigitalXP - Elective Coach in 2022 and AVID DigitalXP: Elementary 3–6 in 2021.

Her scholarly contributions include authoring "Teacher Perceptions of Twice-Exceptionality: A Qualitative Study," published by ProQuest in 2022. This work reflects her dedication to understanding and addressing the unique needs of twice-exceptional students. Dr. Pitcock's involvement with professional organizations such as the National Association for Gifted Children, the International Literacy Association, the Council for Children with Behavioral Disability and the National Education Association underscores her commitment to advancing educational practices.

Outside of her professional life, Dr. Pitcock enjoys sewing and spending time with her family, including her two sons. Her family has been a pillar of support throughout her career, particularly during her dissertation phase. Looking ahead, she aspires to advance within the school system, aiming to become an assistant principal and eventually a principal. She is also currently learning Spanish to enhance communication and foster better interactions among her students and within the community. Her passion for supporting both teachers and students remains at the forefront of her career ambitions.

Dr. Pitcock's journey is characterized by a profound dedication to education and a continuous pursuit of excellence. Her achievements serve as an inspiration to those around her as she continues to make significant contributions to the field of education.
