RICHMOND, CA, April 25, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- James Edward Caldwell III has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Caldwell is a dedicated professional in public safety and violence prevention. Since 2019, he has served as a community strategist and chief officer of public safety for the mayor's office under London Breed. In this role, he leads community response and safety programs in collaboration with various agencies and organizations throughout San Francisco.

Prior to his current position, Mr. Caldwell was the deputy director of the Street Violence Intervention Program from 2007 to 2019. During this time, he played a pivotal role in reducing street violence by implementing strategic interventions and fostering partnerships with local communities. His efforts were instrumental in building strong relationships with families affected by violence, particularly during a challenging period in 2007 when he responded to 47 homicides in the Hunters Point neighborhood of San Francisco.

From 2007 to 2013, Mr. Caldwell served as the care response manager for the Community Response Network. In this capacity, he coordinated responses to incidents of violence and provided support to affected individuals and families. His commitment to community safety and transformation was further demonstrated through his appointment as the chief officer of public safety by Mayor Breed, where he established a collaborative network involving various agencies to address and triage incidents effectively.

Mr. Caldwell's academic achievements have played a pivotal role in his success within the field of public safety. He earned a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice from San Jose State University in 1996, laying the foundation for his distinguished career. His dedication to violence prevention and community engagement has been recognized through various accolades, including the Violence Prevention Award from Nike. Moreover, Mr. Caldwell received recognition from the NAACP, as well as an award for his support of the Brady Campaign in San Francisco, presented by Third Baptist Church, among numerous additional honors.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Mr. Caldwell is actively involved in several civic organizations. He serves as an outreach coordinator for Youth Opportunities of San Francisco and is an applicant member of 100 Black Men. Additionally, he volunteers with the Boys and Girls Club and his local church, demonstrating his commitment to community service.

Mr. Caldwell's extensive involvement in the community has been instrumental in his ongoing efforts to uplift underserved populations. For over 12 years, he ran Nike basketball camps alongside his godfather and co-founded the Second Chance Program in San Mateo, California, aimed at providing opportunities for underprivileged youth. The program brought children from San Francisco to basketball camps and events at Stanford and made a lasting impact through its collaboration with the Boys and Girls Club in the Sunnydale housing project. With the support of a former Warriors owner and funding from Mayor Willie Brown, Mr. Caldwell played a key role in establishing a learning center for the MAD after-school program, which continues to serve as a vital resource for youth today.

In his personal life, Mr. Caldwell enjoys playing basketball, restoring cars and taking care of his dogs. Looking ahead, he aspires to see the program he established become a national model, with hopes that it will be recognized by the government for its value and implemented across the country. Mr. Caldwell envisions expanding the program to more cities within Northern California and beyond, emphasizing its effectiveness through statistics and analytics while seeking national funding support from governmental leaders.

Mr. Caldwell aims to inspire others by demonstrating that dreams and visions can be realized through dedication and commitment. He began by volunteering at the Boys and Girls Club, eventually becoming an employee and working his way up to the highest position, just one step below the mayor. He reported directly to the mayor rather than the chief of staff but always respected the chain of command by keeping the chief of staff informed. Mr. Caldwell emphasizes the importance of respecting individuals' positions and maintaining open communication.
