After establishing Incognia as the Latin American leader in fraud prevention, he was promoted to his current role as the global head of the gig economy industry. In his current role, Mr. Pires focuses on protecting organizations from the growing threats of deepfakes and generative AI being used for fraud. Backed by a $31.5 million investment led by Bessemer Venture Partners, he has played a key role in scaling Incognia's impact globally, helping expand its fraud prevention solutions to over 500 million mobile devices across 188 countries.

Since 2023, Mr. Pires has been instrumental in fraud prevention strategies for marketplaces, food delivery and ride-hailing platforms. His efforts have targeted fraud tactics such as voucher and refund abuse, collusion between users and drivers, fake restaurant listings and chargeback schemes. He brings a deep understanding of usage patterns across platforms like Grubhub, Delivery Hero and iFood, identifying global fraud trends and integrating technology to ensure safer digital experiences. He also frequently shares insights at industry events and helps companies implement identity technologies to expand their secure digital footprint.

Prior to his global role, Mr. Pires served as country manager for Brazil from 2022 to 2023, where he played a pivotal role in expanding the company's regional footprint. As director of customer success between 2020 and 2022, he played a critical role in pivoting the company during the pandemic from a struggling ad-tech business into a hyper-growth fraud prevention leader, now on track to protect nearly one billion devices by the end of 2025.

Mr.Pires' career began in 2012 when he co-founded LookMobile while still a computer science student. As chief revenue officer, he helped the company pioneer mobile applications for Brazil's educational ecosystem, working to democratize access to high school knowledge and content.

In 2016, Mr. Pires joined Incognia's precursor, In Loco, as a software engineering intern. He quickly rose through the ranks to become a developer advocate and then led international expansion efforts in 2018. He later served as head of publisher development and, subsequently, head of sales engineering until 2020, when the company pivoted its focus to fraud prevention due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition to his work in the private sector, Mr. Pires contributed to academia as an Android and Java instructor at the Center for Informatics at the Federal University of Pernambuco from 2016 to 2017. While attending college, he held research and internship roles at Queen's University Belfast and BrainWaveBank in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Pires's educational background includes participating in a sandwich exchange program at Queen's University Belfast from 2014 to 2015, followed by studies at the Federal University of Pernambuco, where he earned a bachelor's degree in computer science in 2016. In 2023, he completed the fraud boot camp program through the Risk Leadership Academy, deepening his expertise in combating digital fraud.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mr. Pires became a founding member of the Platform Integrity Network in 2024 and is affiliated with the Risk Leadership Academy. His contributions have been recognized with awards such as Best Voted Session at MRMC in San Francisco, MRC Singapore and Fraud Day São Paulo.
