Ms. Sheley has made significant contributions to the American Legion Auxiliary Department of Illinois, where she currently serves as the Illinois state chaplain. From 2017 to 2025, Ms. Sheley was the treasurer for Lawrence Unit 28 of the American Legion Auxiliary. In this role, she managed financial records and ensured fiscal responsibility within the unit. Her financial acumen and attention to detail were instrumental in maintaining the unit's economic health. Simultaneously, Ms. Sheley served as the unit's president between 2008 and 2025. Ms. Sheley also served as a parliamentarian advisor for the Twenty-third District of the American Legion Auxiliary between 2018 and 2023. In this capacity, she provided guidance on various procedures and ensured that meetings were conducted efficiently and in accordance with established rules. Earlier, Ms. Sheley garnered success as the Illinois state public relations chair for the American Legion Auxiliary during two separate terms, from 2014 to 2015 and 2021 to 2022. Her efforts in this role focused on enhancing the organization's public image and increasing awareness of its mission and activities across Illinois.

Among other noteworthy roles, Ms. Sheley served as the president of the fifth division of the American Legion Auxiliary from 2013 to 2014 and as the president of the 23rd District American Legion Auxiliary during two separate terms between 2009 and 2011 and earlier from 2003 to 2005. Her leadership was pivotal in driving district-wide programs and initiatives that supported veterans and their families. Ms. Sheley's involvement with the American Legion Auxiliary began with her presidency at the Richland Unit from 1996 to 1998 and a second and third time from 2000 to 2002 and between 2005 and 2006.

Ms. Sheley holds an associate degree from Wabash Valley College. Her education there has equipped her with skills that have contributed significantly to her success in various professional leadership positions.

Throughout her life, Ms. Sheley has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to service. Her extensive involvement with the American Legion Auxiliary reflects a deep-seated passion for supporting veterans and their families while fostering a sense of community among members.
