Prior to her current position, Ms. McDonnell worked as the associate director of marketing at Orphalan from 2023 to 2025. Before that, she held a similar role at Epizyme between 2021 and 2023. Leading up to her time there, her tenure at Ipsen Pharmaceuticals was marked by several key roles, including senior product manager for rare disease marketing in growth disorders from 2018 to 2021. Additionally, she served as a senior endocrinology account specialist for rare diseases from 2015 to 2018 and as a clinical science specialist from 2012 to 2015.

Ms. McDonnell's earlier career included significant experience with TAP Pharmaceuticals and Takeda Pharmaceuticals between 1996 and 2011. She spent her foundational years at Leiner Health Products as a representative from 1989 to 1996.

Educationally, Ms. McDonnell holds a Master of Public Administration in organizational change from California State University, East Bay, which she earned in 1996 after receiving a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in marketing from San Diego State University in 1988. She also holds a minor degree in philosophy with a concentration in ethics and values. In 2006, Ms. McDonnell was designated as a Certified Medical Representative (CMR) with an emphasis in science and medicine. These educational achievements have been instrumental in her success, providing her with the skills necessary for effective leadership and strategic marketing.

Ms. McDonnell has been honored with the Circle of Excellence Award several times in her career.
