PARIS, IL, April 28, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- David H. Hoff has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Mr. Hoff has had a distinguished career in law, marked by nearly 40 years of service as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the United States Attorney's Office for the Central District of Illinois. During his tenure there, from 1986 to 2024, he managed a demanding caseload, initially inheriting over 300 pending civil cases. Through strategic implementation, he successfully reduced the backlog, by ultimately maintaining a workload below 200 cases until his retirement, on August 31st, 2024. He also served as Chief of the Civil Division for this United States Attorney's Office from 2019 until his retirement.

Among his many accomplishments in this role, Mr. Hoff prides himself on successfully defending flood control immunity and many other types of cases brought against the United States of America, its officers, departments and employees. Several of these successful case results were affirmed by the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals, establishing important legal precedents. Before joining the U.S. Attorney's Office, he was a partner in the general practice law firm of Fruin, Andrews and Hoff, in Paris, Il. from 1975 to 1986.

Throughout his career, Mr. Hoff has been recognized with numerous awards and commendations, including a 2024 award for partnership contributions from the United States Drug Enforcement Administration. In 2023, he received the Martindale-Hubbell Award for the Highest Possible Rating in Both Legal Ability and Ethical Standards – AV PREEMINENT Peer Rated for Highest Level of Professional Excellence.

He was also honored by the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Agriculture with a national award in 2002 for handling that Department's Illinois Farm Service Agency's largest delinquent farm account collection in the state of Illinois. In 1997, he received an award from the United States Environmental Protection Agency's Criminal Division for his criminal prosecution of a federal environmental case. Additionally, his work on flood control cases earned him a commendation from Attorney General Janet Reno in 1994.

Mr. Hoff has been a member of the Illinois State Bar Association since 1975, and a past member of its Agricultural Law and General Practice Section Councils. These memberships have allowed him to stay connected with industry developments and contribute to the legal community.

In addition to his professional achievements, Mr. Hoff has been deeply involved in civic activities. He previously served on the board of directors for the McKinley Foundation in Champaign, Il., and was a member of the Civil Air Patrol, United States Air Force Auxiliary. Additionally, he has served as a volunteer judge for the University of Illinois Law School Moot Court Competition and held leadership roles as president of the Paris Kiwanis Club and board member and president of the Human Resources Center of Edgar and Clark Counties, Illinois.

Mr. Hoff's educational background includes a Doctor of Jurisprudence from John Marshall Law School in 1975 and a Bachelor of Science in Communications from the University of Illinois in 1972. He attributes his success to the outstanding people he has worked with throughout his career, developing lifelong relationships within the federal government across the United States.
Outside of his professional life, Mr. Hoff is dedicated to his family and community. He is a member of and has served as a Deacon at his local Presbyterian Church. As a father of two, he values family connections and strives to instill strong values in his children. Mr. Hoff and his wife, Rebecca, who has three children, collectively have thirteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
